I was in Sukhothai for three days and stayed at Ma-Room Place. I booked the room thru Agoda since it was on Book Now Pay Later promo and had free cancellation. I paid about 580 baht per night.
From the Sukhothai Bus Station, the hotel is almost ten kilometers away. The local songthaew from the Sukhothai Bus Station downtown passes this hotel on the way to the Historical Park and it only costs 30 Baht. There are tuktuks that offer their services from the bus station but their prices are much higher.
Ma-Room Place is about 2 km from the Sukhothai Historical Park. The park is accessible from here by foot, songthaew or by bicycle. Bicycles may be rented from Ma-Room Place at 50 baht per day. I used their bike for three days but since I arrived late in the afternoon on the first day, they waived the fee for the first day. Their bikes are well-maintained and had good quality locks but lacked a bicycle bell and lights (which would have been useful since there are sites and events in Sukhothai that are good to visit and explore at night).
The room I booked was a Standard Double Room with no breakfast. Upon arriving at Ma-Room Place, I found out that the room that they reserved for me was a Queen Room with breakfast—at no additional charge. Checking-in was a quick and they handed me my hotel key card. My room was in the second floor and unfortunately, they did not have an elevator; their staff assisted my in carrying my 2 luggage bags upstairs.
The room was spacious and I was able to open both my luggage bags beside the bed with room to spare. It had a refrigerator, its own shower and toilet with hot and cold water, a table, cabled television (the broadcasted mostly Thai channels) and a terrace. They also provided two 350-ml bottles of water each daw, which I placed in the freezer so that it will stay cold for longer while I bike around Sukhothai.
The Queen-sized bed was comfortable and the sheets clean and tidy. The refrigerator remained powered on even after removing the key card from the power supply slot. The water supply was strong even at the second floor. The condenser of the air-conditioning unit was located at the terrace, which was about two square meters big. The terrace served as the smoking area (they had an ash tray provided) and drying area, which proved convenient since I had to do a bit of laundry. The view was not too pleasant though—the neighboring house and yard.
The hotel had complimentary Wi-Fi access. My download speed logged at 50Mbps. Uploading my travel photos to Google Drive was a breeze. The breakfast, served from 7 to 10 am, that came with the room was simple. The dining area is at the lanai in front of the hotel. At one end of the lanai is laid out the various packed biscuits and cookies, ready-to-mix drinks in sachet, white bread, and an assortment of spreads. The biscuits included crackers, coconut cookies, and Belvita. The ready-to-mix drinks were coffee, Milo, and cereal drinks. They had margarine, orange jam, strawberry jam, and what I think was blueberry jam (the jams were not very good, though). There was a bread toaster there so you can have your bread heated or toasted to your liking. They had no limit to how much of the food you may consume so since I expect to bike a lot, I had several helpings.
Lunch and dinner are not offered at Ma-Room Place but that can be easily bought at the establishments near the historical park. Food from outside is allowed inside the premises.
Their personnel are very accommodating and are able to communicate in English fairly well. When I first entered the hotel, I took of my shoes and carried it inside the lobby. One of the staff immediately approached me and said that it was alright to wear shoes in the premises (although I still did not put my shoes back on). The personnel at the front desk provided me with a map of Sukhothai upon arrival. They made sure that I know the breakfast schedule. Moreover, they assisted me in planning my trip back to Bangkok. In fact, there was a time that their vehicle was travelling to the New City and they asked if I wanted to hitch.
All in all, my experience staying at Ma-Room place was pleasant. The services and facilities exceeded my expectations and it was well worth what I have paid for.
