this is not a hotel. It is tiny and the bathroom sink is too small to use. The biggest problem I had here was a "taxi" that the owner/worker got for me. The airport is just 5 min away and the driver charged me 155 baht. The driver was from next door and I wanted to let the owners know this guy ripped me off.

I stayed a night in this guesthouse in February 2018. It was a highly unpleasant experience that left me angry and upset even hours after checking out. As with all of my reviews, this one has been written honestly and accurately. Please read this carefully before considering a stay in this guesthouse. Because of the lack of staff, proper services and amenities and the small scale of the place, it is more of a guesthouse than a hotel. It is important to note that this 4-storey place is not at all handicapped/wheelchair friendly. There are steps leading up to the front door, and no elevator. The reception is staffed 24 hours a days, but some of the staff do not speak adequate English. The owner speaks better English but she was only there in the evening. I booked a deluxe room (bigger than normal). However, the room was still a little cramped. The toilet was the smallest I have even seen in a guesthouse/hotel. It was cramped and narrow, reminiscent of my tiny, hole-in-the-wall apartment in Jerusalem. The sink was really tiny and the toilet bowl was positioned in such a way that you would hit your head on the wall if you even bend forward a little. If you read other reviews on booking.com you will see other people saying the same thing. The windows were old-style shutters that cannot be completely closed/airtight. As such, expect to soak in the sounds of your immediate environment. Fortunately, I got a 4th floor room and did not experience loud traffic noise like others. Also, there is no minibar or refrigerator in the room. The television is misaligned with the bed, such that you cannot comfortably watch it while on the bed. Also, the bed was hard and the sheets and blanket were made out of very low thread count material (read: rough). This is clearly not a luxury hotel and I knew that. The difference between a budget guesthouse and Mont Place is this: in a budget guesthouse, you usually receive warm, friendly treatment from the owners, but not in Mont Place. So what exactly is the problem, in my opinion? Read on to find out. I came across this guesthouse because I was looking for a place to stay near Don Muang that had bathtubs. Before I booked a room through booking.com, it was clearly stated in multiple places that every room comes with a shower AND bathtub. Just to make sure, I even personally called them to confirm this. The lady I spoke to had such difficulty speaking English that I indulged her by switching to Thai. She then confirmed that each toilet came with a bathtub. Imagine my surprise when I found out that there were no bathtubs at all! I spoke to the owner about how booking.com claimed this place had bathtubs and other amenities. She responded by saying I was the first person to give such feedback. Subsequently, when I told her about another reviewer complaining about the same thing, she changed her statement and said that she had already given feedback to booking.com. She simply refused to accept any responsibility, and a 30-45 minute discussion ensued. I am a calm person, but instead of addressing the problem, she got me more frustrated and angry. I kid you not: she went on a defensive rant, blaming Thai culture and society, booking.com, agoda.com and even blaming the Thai government for this problem. I was shocked at her refusal to simply say, "Sorry about the mistake. How can we make up for this?" As a guest, I felt completely helpless as the guesthouse refused to take any responsibility at all. Not a single word of apology nor any sign of regret came from the owner. To make matters worse, she initially willingly offered to give a refund, but quickly went back on her words. Lastly, to add fuel to the fire: I had hardly gone out from her presence when I heard her and her assistant gossiping about me in Thai, which they didn't know I understood. In summary, the standard of the guesthouse was a little lower than similar places in its class, but that was not the deal-breaker for me. As a guest, I left the guesthouse bitter, frustrated, angry and helpless. I have stayed in all kinds of hotels in more than 35 countries and I can say I've never walked out of a hotel feeling so terrible. Hopefully your mileage will vary if you ever decide to stay here.

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to Don Muang airport (about 10-15 minutes by taxi). This hotel is in the low range (US$25-32), but there were some negative surprises that I experienced during my stay. First of all, this hotel is way smaller than I thought. There was only 1 staff in the entire hotel when I checked in. Soon, I realised that there wasn't any elevator in the building. I am a lady and I was carrying 2 heavy bags, but I was put in a room on the highest floor! I could not manage carrying the bags up, but none of the staff offered any help. The hotel and the room is generally clean. This shouldn't be surprising, as the place is newly renovated. The room was quite small and the toilet was so cramped it was uncomfortable. The sink was designed for 6 year olds and positioned such that my head would hit the mirror after washing my face. The bed was uncomfortable and I had a bad sleep. In general, Thai people expect hotels to be nicer than our homes, but this hotel was even worse than my house! I feel that I wasted US$30 on this hotel, had a bad sleep and left with a bad feeling. I am not a person who likes to complain, but I need to write this to warn future travellers about this place. This hotel is not suitable for foreigners because of the staff's poor English as well as poor PR skills and bad service. The owner is not open to any feedback about the place. Also, the listing on booking.com promises many facilities that the hotel itself does not have. I honestly cannot recommend this hotel to any of my Thai or international friends. In fact, I can't imagine any type of traveller who would enjoy this place, except backpackers who are willing to pay a premium price.

I thought it was a decent place until my GoPro camera came up missing. I'm always very careful about where I place my things and who I let around my things because I am a regular traveler. I now have to buy a new GoPro camera which costs $161 USD. I plugged it in to charge when I arrived at the hotel. I had a friend come over, briefly, and she was with me the whole time. I noticed a cleaning lady going in and out of the rooms daily. I had my friend with me the whole time and we locked up when we left. We only left once and my friend was only there for a while. I reported this to the staff and they claim that there is only one key per room. But I noticed while staying there that the cleaning lady was going in and out of the rooms daily. Was I the only guest there?? Something wasn't right about the whole thing. I even made my friend empty her purse out so that I could check her things. I hated doing that because it hurt her feelings. I'm confident that she did not take it. I will never stay at this place again. My recommendation is to spend a little more money and book a better place.
