A short walk from Pai Bus Station, at approximately 260 baht a night, this was a great choice for the budget traveller/backpacker. It’s approximately 5 minutes walk to walking street where all the markets stalls and late night entertainment are. The room itself was adequate. The fan kept me cool during the night and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom consists of shower/western toilet and sink and there’s hot water. Ended up booking another night.

About 10 minutes walk from Pai bus station. It's not a big garden but you can sit outside your room and look at trees and flowers. Reception was friendly and quick. There is free coffee but I didn't see any mugs. The room was clean and spacious. Wifi worked well. The room was slightly warn in places but I paid only 500 Baht in high season. The floor was tiled which was nice. The bed was comfy. A fan room is sufficient most of the year as it gets cool at night in the high season. I was glad of a thin duvet here and at Rainbow house. There are 2 7-11s within 2 minutes walk of PGG.

Before I start this review I just want you to know that Tor is not there anymore. The real owners of the property are there with their two children Tine & Ploysai. So no bar, no pool table, no evening bbq's that went on before, no upstairs rooms as that is where the family lives now. Aum & Son are running the guest house and they both have full time jobs, so they are not around during the day. However, they were wonderful with me and included me in their family of an evening. Aum was very helpful and dropped me off at the bus station when I left. The rooms are large and spotless, however a coat of paint would go well. I enjoyed my stay there and Aum & Ploysai helped me to have a good time while I was there.

Pai Garden was a mixed bag for me. The pros: the staff were extremely friendly, the rooms are spacious, beds bigger than expected, and they give you towels and soaps. Rooms are fairly cheap considering it's only one or two people per room! The cons: the door to my room didn't shut all the way, even when it was locked, so I could hear everything outside (people, bugs). The rooms are clean in a sense, but just very, very old. There were also a few lizards and a spider or two in my room (all on or near the ceiling). Overall, next time I come to Pai, I may look into other accommodation options first. I wouldn't mind staying at Pai Garden again but I don't know if it'd be my first choice.

Tor, the general manager, is one of the best hosts we have experienced anywhere. He made us feel welcome and catered to us from the get go. This is the kind of place that brings return customers. Tucked just a 5-7 minute walk from the walking street (bars, night market, ect) this is definitely a nice space for a couple, someone who may be working or the adventurer seeking a place that can be a touch less party oriented. That being said. Hilary, my partner, and I still went out almost every night with friends from the guesthouse. This place is not pretentious at all which makes it so unique in Pai. The rooms are all nice, basic but retaining the feeling of being in a home. We stayed upstairs above the bar which was quiet enough. There are two rooms upstairs that share a bathroom, one is has a queen bed and the other has two twins. It has its own porch with a daybed and some chairs. We set up a hammock. Great place to watch sunrise if you're up that late, or early. Pedro, who is there until Pai Garden closes for the slow season in two weeks is awesome. Highlight would be the yard dog Dom. He was so sweet and gentle. When Tor gave us a ride to the bus stop he actually followed us into town all the way to the bus stop to say goodbye. What an awesome bonus if you are an animal lover. In my heart I give it 5 stars.
