I’ll start by agreeing with everyone else in that the bay itself is gorgeous and enjoying the sunset over a cocktail became a daily ritual. Lots of people on here saying the restaurant was more expensive than the local restaurants - that’s a global phenomenon I think (apart from Italy!). And we found the staff and food good. However, reception was rude, beds very hard, housekeeping unreliable and the shower terrible. Half the bungalows had old hammocks, ours had some cords showing where a hammock had been. A fellow guest was sitting in a chair by the pool when it collapsed. Three days later it was still in the corner where he’d dragged it. The third of the resort furthest from the beach is fenced off and is now a building site with diggers etc making our bungalow shake so much I thought ‘earthquake!’ We learned the resort will be closing for good at the end of the season. Probably to be flattened. It needs it.

Poor standards. We booked the most expensive bungalow. We were there with the children, there was a big hole in the bathroom where all the bugs came inside. After 3 days we were able to get a bungalow with normal standards. Water was cut off several times a day, I would not recommend to anyone. A family of 4 had to sleep on beds for 3 people despite paying for all. Only cold water in bathroom. Poor breakfast. The beach is not cleaned. Everything is neglected.

On Koh Lanta the beaches are open to everyone. In Thailand you feel that you are welcome everywhere. The resort has now got a new owner. The attitude has changed. Fences, guards and an attitude to the customer indicating that you are not welcome. The resort believes they own the beach and guests who want to come and eat food or yoga even though they do not live there are rejected. I would warn guests to visit this resort. The new owner has misunderstood what the resort business is all about. Warning, warning, warning

Relax Bay Resort is well located on a relatively private beach. The beach is clean and though there are rocky areas there’s a good and wide patch for swimming plus you can easily walk to some more ‘secret’ beaches. The bungalows themselves are lovely and well sized. Location to other aspects of interest is great. The cabana son the beach and bean bags are excellent. Me and my two friends really loved our stay. Below are some observations and aspects to consider, (noting we stated at the very end of the season): - ideally need a car or tuk tuk to get in and out... worth it for the private aspect however and needing transport didn’t cause inconvenience to us at all - popular with young families... not a major problem for us but worth mentioning if you are after adults only - beds are very firm (like many in Thailand) and don’t come with blanket unless arranged with staff - take the “sea view” bungalows with a grain of salt... a generous description and few bungalows are truly on the beach. Not worth paying extra for if you’re weighing against a garden view, unless you are truly getting the VIP bungalow - like most hotels I’ve stayed in worldwide, towels get replaced even if you hang them up to keep, despite the environment friendly notices - Thai food on the menu is more fusion Thai, even though there is a separate page for Euro food. For traditional Thai, head to a local place. On the other hand, creams brûlée and chocolate mousse were fantastic - service was patchy... reception staff were very pleasant. Food and bar staff were more frosty and seemed annoyed to interact with guests - need to book for massage well in advance, not just get one when the mood takes you

This was our first visit on Lanta. Relax Bay is absolutely gorgeous! The beach is stunning and has wonderful sunset views. My fiancée and I appreciated the shaded, jungle feel and didn’t mind that it was a bit more rustic than some of the more luxurious places on the island. The hammocks and swings everywhere are a very nice touch. We also loved the pool! It’s a perfect temperature and shaded. However, this places charges noticeably more than what they should for the “services” they offer — laundry, massages, yoga etc. We only ate at the restaurant once because I couldn’t stand to pay so much money on a meal I could get for cheaper outside of the resort. Also, I think 160baht for the breakfast buffet was too much - in my opinion it should be included. I asked if they had espresso, and they said yes for an extra cost. I ordered a cappuccino.... which wasnt espresso, but the (free!) drip coffee with foam milk. They charged me 120 baht for it!! Luckily I was able to get my money back. The bar was also way too expensive, so we opted to get drinks at other places nearby. Laundry took a full 48 hours and cost double what places on the street cost. We did take advantage of the bike rental service which was a great deal of 250B per day. We loved exploring the island on our own! We liked our room overall, but the bed was hard and we were only given one thin linen sheet. I asked for a blanket, and got another linen sheet. I do wish there had been a mini fridge, especially with them charging 50B for water... Overall, stay here for the location and not the services. I didn’t find the staff especially friendly or helpful. It is a beautiful place to stay, and I would stay again, however I would not eat at the restaurant/ bar or use any of their other services. But other places for food and drink are in an easy walking distance!
