We didn’t book but walked in. After speaking to the receptionist we realised that it was far cheaper to book on line whilst standing in reception. Initially booked for one night but extended each day for a total of three nights. We went through this process each day. The venue is located a short walk from walls of the old town and incidentally has a temple directly across the side street. At the time we stayed (February) the hostel was quiet. We had a twin room. Rooms are quiet but small. Air conditioning is good. Rooms are well serviced daily. When booking on line you have an included breakfast option which we chose on the second day only as it is better value to purchase the breakfast. Staff speak very good English, particularly Pop who was friendly and fun. Her bubbly personality made our stay more enjoyable. Wifi is great at this hostel. Food is good. Beers are the most expensive that we came across in Chiang Mai which doesn’t encourage you to drink in the bar or eat at the hostel however as the room rate was cheap it evened out. The only downside was that: my friend received an electric shock in the bathroom from the metal conduit next to the shower. I advised the manager, Khwan, lady with glasses. There was no misunderstanding with what I explained however, she found it funny which was a surprise. The mosquitos in the room are numerous. I don’t know how they get in but the do and they are hungry.

Minutes away from the night bazaar and the old city gate. Located in a quiet lane next to a temple. Really convenient , nice clean room. Love the ala cart breakfast selection and staff are friendly and helpful.

The staff here are so so lovely, they really go the extra mile for the guests. Very friendly, warm, genuine and welcoming. I left a dress in the room. I flew down the south of Thailand and emailed the hotel to see if it was still there. They posted the dress all the way to Koh Phi Phi island for me free of charge! Great hotel and lovely stay, highly recommend and thank you to the staff

Firstly, the staff at Rompo are super lovely and helpful. They are always willing to help with requests or even have a chat about your day and give recommendations. Secondly, the location was great, next to a beautiful temple and down a little alley away from the main road. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the old town. The rooms were basic but cost, just missing a few basic amenities like toothbrush and toothpaste, but they did provide mosquito repellant lotion which I thought was a thoughtful touch! We would definitely stay here again without a doubt. Thank you Rompo, we had a great time here!

We only stayed one night in Chiang Mai, so we didn’t want anything special as we would be in the city all day long anyways. Well, the room was definitely okay, it had a bed and a small “bathroom” and the guy at the receiving was absolutely friendly, he helped us a lot. But the major thing is, which almost made me sick by the stomach- the smell in the room. I can’t explain what kind of smell if was, but I felt nauseous. I also woke up at night because of the smell. There is no windows other than the ones in the bathroom which are tiny. And the AC is not working properly. It has only one 2 functions - Temperatur up or down. And you need to wait at least 1,5 hours to get the temperature to a normal. Outside it was nicer than inside the room. Not only because of the smell. The breakfast: I was happy we didn’t went for a full dinner the night before. Nobody is greeting you and the coffee was unfortunately the worst my husband ever tasted. Staff was very unfriendly. So, no need to book a breakfast. Rather go outside to the Main Street :)
