Only my second time staying at the Village Hotel Walsall, great friendly welcome by the reception team at 15.20pm . Staying in room 205 while if I was very picky I noticed a stain on the carpet by the mirror & some untidiness around the toilet door handle. However this did not distract from a great night's sleep after some great tasty food & a few beers. Great staff, great service & great food n drink.

This seemed quite a new hotel, so things seemed very modern. Location was a bit iffy, but only because there are roadworks nearby, making it slightly tricky to navigate. The man on reception at my 11pm arrival was really welcoming and friendly, and seemed like nothing was too much trouble. The room was really nicely decorated, and had a Dyson Airblade fan. The bathroom was fine, though the shower only had a half-screen, so water splashed onto the floor unless I directed the shower-head to its lowest setting, making the effective shower fairly small. Breakfast was fine and tasty - though nothing spectacular. I'd have liked to have been asked how I wanted my eggs (fried or poached please) rather than the default of scrambled. But these are. minor quibbles, I thought the hotel was great, and the staff superb. And very good value for money. Though parking was chargeable, which I didn't realise - but it was only £5 overnight, so not unreasonable.

Ten out of ten for the most friendly welcome ever, I arrived after a horrible journey and they were all brilliant, really went the extra mile in every way. The lady on reception ( Faye/Kay ?) I'm awful with names, the very personable guy on the coffee bar was also lovely and clearly remembered me from the day before. The hotel was busy and yet there was still plenty of time for the personal touch. I will be back, I love village hotels !

Me and my partner had a meal with one of our friends outside and just would like to give the lady that looked after us Joanne a big shout out her customer service was absolutely brilliant so friendly and she did her check backs with food/drinks ect definitely will be returning. Thank you from David&Laura

I have stayed in this hotel 3 times now and twice during COVID restrictions. The reception staff are friendly but hard to get hold of. There is no way to contact reception from your room which is something I have never experienced before. You have to physically walk down to reception to speak to someone and the receptionists are very rarely there so you spend a good 10-15mins waiting for them. They are well mannered and pleasant though. The pub menu is ridiculous. No choice what so ever and should I come back on business I won’t be staying at this hotel because of that. There is very very very limited choice. Either Burger or Wrap for a main course. I am here for 5 nights and can not eat a burger 5 days in a row. There are no basic meals like pasta , pizza, pie etc literally just burger or wrap. Everyone on my course said the same too. The rooms are very basic and the bed is very comfortable. However I did clean the room myself as there was dust buildup and marks in the bathroom which made me question if it had been properly cleaned. There was also no kettle in my room so I had to take a trip down to request one. Honestly this hotel has such great potential but the very basics needed seem lacking. I genuinely have never been in a hotel where you have to physically walk down to reception to try and speak to a member of staff. Surely this is not a good idea in emergency situations. Whilst I was staying some guests in a room opposite me were having a really bad domestic argument and were screaming at each other and hitting each other in the corridor . I couldn’t leave my room to let a member of staff know and there is no way to contact them via mobile phone as there is no number online that takes you to reception. It honestly baffles me why this is the case? The covid menu had a lot more variety on it and I had the covid menu on my arrival on Sunday but when restrictions lifted and the bar opened they switched to the pub menu which as I have explained is shocking. Unfortunately I don’t have much choice other than to eat here as work pay for the meal at the hotel. Like I have said the staff are lovely and do work incredibly hard but the process’s in place and facilities do not work in guests favour and make your stay a lot more difficult.
