One of my pet peeves in traveling with some branded hotels is when you get a room and think you’re getting one thing but when you get there they change your room type or whatever for something different. I’ve had a Marriott account for quite a while but I don’t travel so much that I have diamond/platinum whatever status, but I do have gold so once in a while I get a perk or two, which is nice. Unfortunately, this Marriott has really put a bad taste in my mouth with re-negging on a room that I reserved a long time ago. My room reservation in the Bonvoy app clearly shows that my room is an M Club room, the woman who checked us in didn’t mention it so I double checked when I got to the room, yup, it says M Club all right. So I stopped at the desk again but the person who helped me denied that I had an M Club room with access for the rate that I had. Despite my obvious displeasure there was no budging even after showing the room in the app. It was explained (very unconvincingly) that “just because your room says M Club, doesn’t mean that it comes with Club access.” Really??? Then why would you call it that?
Anyway, clean room, the room service was quick and actually pretty good. Parking is $19 a night. Desk customer service, not so good at all, I’ll choose a different hotel on future trips if they aren’t going to honor the room type.
