Where to start the people at the frt desk are rude. We woke up and the TV did not work, called down and asked the frt desk they said we will send maintenance. Over a hour still no one came, we decided to go to pool. The indoor pool was ice cold ok we will get in hot tub started it up and was over flowing with foam, went to frt desk lady told us the heater was on and someone must have put soap in hot tub will we send the maintenance guy to look. Waited 15 mins went back to desk and asked how long befre the maint guy would show was told he does not get there unitll 10am ( noone ever said this untill now and it was 830am and check out was at 11) So we gave up on the pool. The indoor pool was the main reason we stayed there. Went back to room to shower and get ready to leave, there was no exhaust fan. After the first shower the floor was slick and you could see nothing. ( wife likes hot showers). Positive note ac worked, was hot water, close to alot of stuff thats about it

Stopped for the night and booked a room. Not the cleanest room. Front doors were propped open and not very safe. Went back to the desk to get a soda and no one was around. The next morning no one was at the desk to ask for a toothbrush. Checked out and ask for a breakfast to go bag. Otis Spunkmeyer muffin and a piece of peppermint candy. Not worth $100.

I should have read the reviews on this hotel before booking it. I agree with what NeseeDCoy and Janet J wrote about the breakfast. I can't say anything more that hasn't already been said other than I've stayed at other Comfort Inns that have a hot breakfast during COVID. It might be scaled down but there were hot items. This hotel must have allowed smoking at one point. The first room we were assigned to reeked of cigarette smoke so we asked for and received another room. When my wife walked by the front desk someone else was also asking for another room for the same reason. Not only won't we stay there gain, we cancelled two other Comfort Inns (reviews were similar) for the next several days and booked with another chain, one that has never allowed smoking. Not only is the breakfast situation unsatisfactory, we don't want to be stuck in a smoking room. This place may be all 'non-smoking' now, but you need to do something more than simply put non-smoking on the door of a room that has been used for smoking for quite some time.

The Good -The room was comfortable for the most part. The facility was clean. A nice family touch in the bathroom is a rubber duck for the little ones. (Photo) The bad: The outer doors of the lobby entrance vestibule are stuck open. This creates a potential security problem. The environmental management system makes it impossible to get the room warm. If the monitor doesn't sense movement (Like when you're sleeping.), it thinks you're away and cycles the heating/AC accordingly (See attached photos...) This system also claims that housekeeping supposedly knows when not to knock on your door. Perhaps that's why there's no "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. This is a false economy in the event your room gets assigned to another guest by accident and they open the room door. I've had this happen. Bring back the signs! The bathtub is in serious need of a rubber mat or other means of preventing a slip or fall while taking a shower. The ice machine on the third floor is out-of-order. There is no sign about this. Because of COVID, there was no breakfast buffet offered. While coffee was apparently available, the only thing available to eat was a banana, chocolate chip, or blueberry muffin. These you have to ask the desk clerk for. The ugly: One of the desk clerks didn't have their nose covered by their facemask. One housekeeper didn't have a mask on at all. If you're staying in an odd-numbered room, you will be awakened occasionally by a big rig driver using their "Jake Brake" (Downshifting the transmission to use engine compression for braking.) Otherwise, the room was reasonably quiet. The worst part is the deceptive description for the availability of the pool and spa on the webpage for this hotel on the Choice Hotels website. The page gives operating hours hours for both the pool and the spa. While there is a "may be closed" disclaimer (see photo), the posting of hours gives a potential customer cause for hope. It's false hope, at best. While there are places with their pool and spa open, this isn't one of them. This is despite Virginia Department of Health guidelines which state that pools, hot tubs, spas, etc., may be opened provided "social distancing" is practiced and the water properly treated with chlorine and bromine. However, the cost savings of closing these facilities is false economy when practices such this are shared. Finally, check-in took over a half-our, including the 20 minutes it took the couple in front of me to get their reservation sorted out. Only having one desk clerk on duty at 4:30 PM on a Friday afternoon reeks of cheap. While American businesses are traditionally notorious for understaffing, this takes the Darwin Award. The summary: If the related COVID Casualties are restored, this place could be worthwhile. Right now, there are places nearby that seem just as attractive and are less expensive. Thus, at this time, I cannot recommend this hotel.

I completely understand that with the pandemic, there have to be adjustments made by businesses. And I appreciate the care taken to ensure the safety of customers. HOWEVER, I specifically choose Comfort Suites because they are generally clean and offer a hot breakfast. This is the main reason I choose them. We stayed 2 nights here, and I was horrified when I went for our "bagged" breakfast, that included....a muffin. A MUFFIN. No fruit, no yogurt, no juice available, nothing. Then, when I asked for 2 bags, 1 for me, one for my husband, the attendant was clearly agitated, and I was rudely asked my room number as if I was going to double dip. I paid for a full breakfast, and I'm going to be made to feel as though I'm "ripping you off" over A MUFFIN? Completely insulting. Never mind that my husband is a diabetic, so he couldn't even eat the chocolate chip muffin. I inquired where we could get breakfast, and the gentleman told us Denny's (within sight of the hotel) which we found out has been closed for quite some time. Great suggestion! We stayed in a Comfort Suites a month ago in Ohio, and there was food made available. Hot breakfast sandwiches for the microwave, individually wrapped fruit, yogurt, and JUICE. Not coffee and water, only. But, they had social distancing in place, and no breakfast buffet, but at least you could get something to eat and some juice. All 3 workers that I saw when we were there did NOT have their masks over their noses. What's the point? If they're so so concerned that we can't even get something more than a muffin after we pay the same rates for a full hot breakfast, then they should be concerned about properly wearing a mask. I will say the place was clean, but could use some updating. I'm just salty that we had to go find food and spend $20 for breakfast two days in a row, when we should have been given a little something more, or have a little something on hand for those with dietary restrictions.
