This hotel is located in downtown Silver Spring. It is within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and the Metro Red Line. It is an older hotel, but well maintained.
We were welcomed as Diamond members and told that our room would not be ready for another 30 minutes. 10 minutes later Anthony Rattler, the FD Manager, had our room ready for us and checked us in. The entire front desk staff was excellent and we got to know them during our stay. We had positive interactions with Anthony the entire stay and feel that we made a new friend.
The hotel has valet parking only. It was a little pricey ($20 per night quoted on the website but they $25 charged when we checked out). It was quick and efficient both on entry and exit. Getting our suitcases into the lobby up the short flight of stairs from the car park lobby was a little weird but we figured it out (kinda European).
We had an issue with our AC/heat and the service staff were able to quickly fix it without making us change rooms.
The Wednesday Night social/reception was a pleasant surprise. It was cold out and we decided to go downstairs to the restaurant and found this hotel social. We were invited and made to feel welcome. Thanks.
The morning breakfast area was spacious and the food from the buffet was excellent. They also prepared any special orders quickly. The toaster was broken so the cook took our bagels into the back and prepared them for us. All the food items were plentiful and delicious.
Overall, this was a very good stay, one of the better Doubletree experiences.
