I have been going to the Golden Gate for 35 years. They used to have a Deli where you could get a Beer and a Shrimp Cocktail for 3 $, about 8 years ago they removed the Deli. We then used to go play then eat at DU Parrs, about 5 tears ago the removed DU Parrs. We then used to go play and we would 25 $ on our card to Gamble and 25 $ for food at the D (no place to eat at the Golden Gate) . This trip they took our temperature and wanted ID to get into the Casino. When we went to players club they told me if i lost 100 $ I would get 5 $ to Gamble and a 5 $ food credit. I am little sad but we will not be back.

We originally rented out 4 rooms and were upgraded to the penthouse. It was amazing. The rooms were extremely comfortable and had their own on suit bathrooms. There was an outdoor patio with outdoor furniture, a grill, a TV, and a surround sound system to listen to music. I would definitely recommend booking the penthouse if you are interested in a comfortable and fun space.

We have never stayed at this hotel, but have played the slots. Overall the game floor is clean and inviting. The drink service is quick and consistent. They had security at the entrances checking temp & ID's, this kept the homeless out.

Years ago I stayed here when I visited LAS regularly as back at that time I would stay at a different property each trip to sample all of the themes and what not. Last time I stayed here I enjoyed it and having a degree in History I do appreciate the historical aspects of the hotel. But to give you an idea how long its been, I remember when the hotel had a restaurant and served these amazing 99 cent SHRIMP COCKTAILS. This trip, because of COVID and because its been awhile, I wanted to stay DOWNTOWN so I could easily walk to several places and take in the sights and sounds of The Freemont Street Experience. I had always before preferred downtown over THE STRIP. I stayed here the last 2 weeks of August and since I was going to be here for 2 weeks, I decided to treat myself and booked one of their suites. I had looked at several youtube videos beforehand and liked the design. Now I am Marriott Lifetime Gold and IHG Platinum (also NCL Platinum Plus) and I would call Suite 43 I stayed in more of what others call a junior suite, but it was still very spacious and comfortable. I loved the sectional in front of the large TV, very comfortable bed, spacious windows with what I thought was an interesting/cool view. My favorite of the suite was the very large walk-in shower with rain shower. Suite also has a mini-fridge/safe and plenty of storage room. Lots of handy drawers. All-in-all I was very comfortable and enjoyed it. Now I am giving the hotel 4 instead of 5 stars because when I checked-in I was told due to Covid there would be NO HOUSKEEPING. After a couple of days I got to thinking about it and went to the desk and said since I am going to be here two weeks, how about letting me have housekeeping after one week and for reasons not explained they said NO. Maybe it was a staffing situation I don't know, but twice I had to have a minor maintenance issue resolved and maintenance was in the room with me and they would come and vacuum the room but I would have to be actually out of the room to actually have it done. It would seem to me that due to Covid rather than no housekeeping , like we do at the airline, HAVE EXTRA CLEANING and we do it multiple times per day. Having said that though, the staff was wonderful and provided anything I asked for. Andy especially at the front desk was always friendly and helpful and anytime I asked for towels or sheets or whatever he immediately had them sent up. Marbella the housekeeper on the floor that cleaned the rooms after folks checked-out was also wonderful as she would also give me towels, take my old towels and take my trash for me. She even lent me some of her supplies so that I could clean my bathroom. I actually kept my suite pretty clean as I do at my place at home and did kind of make it feel homey, but of course I would have preferred normal housekeeping, but like The Borg, I adapted. Speaking of service, I found the overall service in the hotel and casino excellent. Everyone I came in contact with was very nice. Now I think the cocktail service could be improved a little, although I understand lots can be attributed to this new environment we are all in, but if I am playing in the high limit slot salon, I really shouldn't have to ask the pit boss over the table games next door to please send me a waitress or wait 30 minutes playing the penny slots which really aren't penny slots when you bet the MAX. Couple more times I had to flag one down with one telling me one time that this wasn't her section. Okie dokie then, but actually I understand we are all in a new environment with the masks and social distancing and all so I really don't fault anyone and am a pretty understanding guy....so Speaking of that the protocols are excellent, temp checks each time you enter, lots of hand sanitizing stations.........I felt very comfortable staying and playing here. Now reading some of these other reviews, the temp was fine in the room and I never once saw a bug.

So not stay here at all. The temperate never got cooler than 85 in the room. We had to actually go buy a fan! The pillow was gross as you can see and the worst part was the cockroaches. They refused to do anything and we actually left Las Vegas a whole day early just because it was so gross in there. Never again.
