At the outset, I’d like to say this is a problem with corporate and management, not the staff. The staff were professional and friendly and did about as well as I could have expected anyone to do given the circumstances, but there was only so much they could have done. I booked my trip in April 2021. My reason for selecting Auberge was that I stayed in the Maliouhana in Anguilla during the holidays in 2019, and I was impressed by the quality of hotel and the Auberge hotel concept (unique, luxury, boutique-style hotels that are different in each location, and great food/service). The experience I was provided was nothing close to that standard. When I booked the hotel in April, I expected to be able to have a historic indoor lobby, billiards in the lobby, a spa, a fire pit outdoors, and the hotel also promised daily oyster-shucking classes at 5pm. Most of the experience I bargained for when I booked my trip was unavailable. I did not see this anywhere in writing before I booked my trip, and there were no negative reviews on Tripadvisor at the time. I was only notified by phone ONE WEEK before the trip commenced via phone by the concierge. On that call, all that was disclosed was that the lobby would be unavailable. This was very frustrating, but it turned out that the spa, fire pit, and oyster shucking classes were also unavailable. I could also hear lobby construction noise during my stay. There were regular lengthy delays with the one elevator that everyone in the building had to share. There were also ants in the shower, and something on the couch I couldn’t identify but seemed to be either a cockroach or a beetle, which I informed the staff of and the staff diligently attended to after the fact, but very unsettling nonetheless.

BIGGEST RIP-OFF IN TOWN! So incredibly over-priced for $700/night. We stayed on the 3rd or 4th floor...the floor plan is so disjointed. Our $700 per night room had old, grungy Home Depot quality carpet squares on the floor. The ceilings were not dormered and we kept bumping our heads. The paint on the walls was old a scuffed and the baseboards hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. Everything was outdated...the A/C units were so old they sounded like a engine started everytime they came on...could wake you out of a dead sleep. The hotel is under renovation (which NO ONE informed us of) so we had to enter through the alley parking lot. Everything we needed we had to have delivered to the room because there was no access to normal things like an ice machine, etc. That's $5-$10 in tips every time! The furnishings in our room (a junior suite) looked like they came from your great uncle's basement apartment...worn upholstery, questionable pillows. They did have nice robes though. The spa was closed, they have an indoor poor (green and gross) and a workout room in the basement...not air conditioned. The meals were prepared and served from a large box truck kitchen in the parking lot...everything, including the morning coffee was cold by the time it made its way to the table. They should refund 50% of every patrons bill who stayed the week we were there...and should ETHICALLY have informed all travel agents and direct callers of the conditions during this renovation and the outdated and run-down quality of their rooms, furnishings and lack of standard amenities. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF OUR TRAVELING EXPERIENCE TO DATE!!

Where to start...We were beyond disappointed with out stay at the Vanderbilt. We arrived at the hotel only to find out they were doing renovations on what seemed to be the entire hotel. Construction was going on in all areas. They only had one elevator for the entire hotel working. We were on the 4th floor and we ended up having to take a service staircase to leave every time because the elevator would take 15+ minutes. From the room you could hear the construction and foot traffic that would wake us early in the morning. The front desk was extremely rude and very unknowledgeable about restaurants in town. The valet parked our car under an area where birds must of sat because when we left it was covered in bird Sh*t. What a disappointing stay and shock that Auberge would put their name behind this property. I then tried to leave this review within their survey and they denied it, seems strange. I hope that some of you will find this review and save yourself the money and stay somewhere else in town!

I stayed in room 201. It was small, noisy (both the AC inside the room and the fact that it was by the elevator), housekeeping never seemed to clear the plates on the corridor. The bed was comfortable but that was it. The reception was under construction, no spa, the swimming pool is minuscule and not heated. The concierge was not really on top of reservations. For $400/night it might have been ok, but this was $1581 per night!!! Just highway robbery in my opinion. Save yourself a lot of money and stay at the Hotel Viking which is similar feel for 1/3 of the price.

Unfortunately this property is under renovation which takes away from the whole experience. I understand the need to renovate and trust me the hotels needs it but perhaps they should do what many hotels do and shut down, especially given the size. The staff were actually great and the service was very good. The location is superb and overall I can see this being the spot to stay in the area.
