I came to Reno with my 11 year old daughter for the new Reno Ice rink. I originally booked another hotel because we brought our small dog and I didn't realize Hilton Garden Inn was pet friendly. It was a busy 3 day weekend and the other hotel oversold their pet rooms so they walked us. Here I was at 9:30pm with a tired child and a dog and Reno pretty much sold out. I called multiple hotels and I eventually just drove to the Hilton Garden Inn. Susan R. at the front desk was very understanding and offered us a great rate for one of the three nights. Unfortunately the hotel was sold out the other 2 nights. Eventually she was able to find us a room for all 3 nights. I know this can't always be the case but she genuinely seemed to want to help us. Our weekend came close to being ruined so we were thrilled to have such great customer service, a really convenient location (walking distance to 2 grocery stores, Starbucks and restaurants), a quiet room and a nice area with a pond to walk our dog. We go to Reno 1-2x a month so feel very lucky to have found a place that takes such good care of us.

This hotel’s decor has been recently updated at the room was clean and comfortable, but we did not get a good night’s sleep at this hotel. Our room was located near the front of the first floor hallway and we were repeatedly awakened by people talking loudly in the hallway, doors to order rooms slamming shut, and noises from the parking lot outside. This could have been easily mitigated by turning the HVAC fan to a “constant on” setting to provide white noise, however the “maximum energy savings $$$ for the hotel” thermostats installed at this property don’t allow the fan to run constantly. The HVAC fan repeatedly cycling on and off throughout the night was annoying and sleep disturbing in its own right. Secondly, we booked an upgraded room type on the HHonors website that was supposed to include “in room snacks,” only to find out when we arrived at the hotel that this amenity was no longer offered due to COVID. That would have been done fine, except we paid extra for it, so I’m going to have to ask for a refund, as no one at the hotel offered to refund the extra amount and I neglected to ask. Lastly, the hotel seemed under-staffed. We had gone swimming in the pool and all of the clean pool towels had been used (pool was cold BTW), so we ended up using our room towels. Afterwards I went to the front desk to ask for replacement towels, but there was a line of several people and only appeared to be one attendant on staff to assist them (on a busy Saturday night of a holiday weekend.) Not wanting to wait in line, I just went back to the room. Likewise the next morning, I wanted to get some coffee, but it’s all sequestered behind the front counter (due to COVID) which required waiting in the same checkin/checkout line. I waited for a few minutes and then gave up and drove to Starbuck’s.

We stayed only one night. There was a sticker on the door saying the room was clean but both nightstands had gunk on them from a prior traveler and there was a mass of hair in the shower. It was disappointing and worrisome because of COVID. We stayed at another Hilton property during same trip and it was clean.

We stayed here overnight before heading out of town. Close enough location to the airport. Room was clean enough. Restaurant/bar were not open due to COVID. Front desk gal was really nice and helpful when we checked in. We had an early flight the next morning. Went to front desk to check out and had to ask the gentleman for breakfast to go bag. He seemed rather agitated to even converse. We went to our car to load up and found that the window had been smashed. (Nothing was stolen but our car had been searched, glove compartment left open, front console opened). My husband went back inside to find the front desk guy, and he was nowhere to be found. Not behind front desk, not in kitchen. Nowhere. Like he was hiding from us. We then noticed it was not just our car. Ours was one of several in a row. Since we were running late to airport, we drove with a broken window. We called Hilton and the hotel directly and were told that they are not responsible for car break ins. Hilton did refund our points that we had used to stay there, but we still had to pay the car rental company over $300.00 for the broken window. Just wanted to share. Still not happy about all of this. We were in town celebrating our anniversary and this is how our trip ended.

Long time Diamond member and I can’t remember seeing a Hilton property so beat up and dirty Dirty stained walls in common areas . Gross stained carpet in the elevator I don’t understand why the breakfast is closed due to “ Covid “ when the Hampton In Sparks . Total sham because they just don’t want to open it Come on now , don’t use Covid as a excuse not to step up to the plate That’s shameful I checked out and moved to the Hampton In in sparks . 8-10 miles away with a river walk , clean rooms , and hot breakfast PS : when a hotel only responds to positive comments and not the negative ones , what does that tell you
