As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I like to stay in different properties across the portfolio. For this particular trip to the DC area, I chose this property, based on its location adjacent to the Twinbrook Metro station.
Upon arrival on Metro, after following sidewalks and crosswalks to get to the back of the hotel, I found the door to be locked. And there went the convenience. Now I had to walk around the building with my luggage to enter from the front on the Rockville Pike side.
I had done advance check-in one day before my arrival, and in that process had chosen a room. When I arrived I was told that this room was not yet ready. I was offered another room, which after my walk was welcome. I am glad I did not use the Digital Key feature, because had I followed those instructions to bypass the front desk and head right for the chosen room, it would have been a further inconvenience to go there for nothing.
The hotel lobby looks like an Embassy Suites inside rather than a Hilton, with its large atrium and rooms built all around it.
The room I was given was certainly adequate. Even though it faced Rockville Pike, it was well insulated from most traffic noise. The size of the room was enough for my needs, and the television and WiFi kept me entertained with no issues. The bathroom had a large sink counter allowing me to easily spread out my toiletries as needed.
I was told at check-in that breakfast would be Grab & Go. Pandemic safety understood, but this while other hotels are successfully serving food to consume on the premises. Since I had come by Metro, just where would I go to eat the food? (It's illegal to eat on the Metro.) I thus cannot rate my breakfast because I had to pass on the privilege that I worked so hard to achieve as a Diamond member.
I should add that while there were signs on the front door that required everyone to wear a mask in public areas (and I complied), this was not being enforced throughout the hotel. It is confusing to travelers passing through different states with different stages of reopening just what is allowed and what isn't.
Check-out process went quickly and was as professional as check-in.
