As a former "Road Warrior", having over 5,000 hotel stays over 30 years traveling for business, and former Top 1% Tripe Advisor reviewer, the Covid Safety at hotel is "All "Smoke and Mirrors"
Person after person entering without masks and when I question the front desk person, they say there isn't anything they could do, despite signs everywhere that say "MUST WEAR MASK TO ENTER"!
Walmart & Lowes have the BEST Covid protections, in he area, as well as "The Great Smokies Inn Cherokee. These companies care about your safety.
Signs all say "MUST wear mask to enter", just as I see a family with the father NOT wearing a mask, NOT once, but 3 times in less than 5 minutes, the 3rd time he scurries into the side entrance, after I complained front desk
3 older guys, without Masks, sitting at the entrance to the hotel, NO MASKS, conversing back an forth across the entrance way, while smoking.
1 OF 2 wearing masks. While checking in, the 2nd staff member comes to the side of where I was standing, to speak with a guest not covering his full face and less than 6' aways from me, staff member and not beyond their line.
Same person, no mask, was sitting in the back checking the internet, exposing everyone

They took temp, around the safety barrier, after I had been trying to check in for 10 minutes.
STAY ELSEWHERE if you care about your Covid safety. Best place is a motel, where you can drive up to hotel room.
Great Smokie Mountain Inn in Cherokee has the BEST covid safety protocols, polite staff and great value for the money in the area.
This use to be my "Go To" hotel, NOT anymore.
