Upon arrival, the staff and lobby were very nice. The room however was not up to par. The trash had not been taken out, there was ketchup on the outside of the fridge, the bathroom sink was leaking, stains on the furniture and sheets, white stuff on the nightstand, among other questionable items. I cleaned the area to my own liking then opted out of housekeeping. The room had the king bedroom and separate kitchen/living room. Even though it has a kitchen, there were no plates, bowls, or utensils to use (paper, plastic or standard). On the 3rd day I had to request more paper towels. The worker brought me a half used roll (which I declined). Definitely not worth the extra cost compared to other hotels in Middleton.

My family and I stayed here for a long weekend. Overall its perfect for a mini vacation. It is relatively close to the mansions and the beach. We stayed in a 2 bed room suite which worked well for a big family. Unfortunately we stayed during Covid-19 so the breakfast wasn't terrific. However the hotel staff was exceptional. My daughter lost her favorite stuffed animal which we could not find during our stay. Luckily, we told the hotel staff to be on the look out and about about an hour after we checked out they called and told us they found it. We were still in Newport so we were able to recover our daughters precious stuffed animal. Thank you residence in for the rescue!

My family likes to stay at RI brand... extra room, etc. This time we had a 2 BR/2 bath suite. Furnishings were clean and not beat up. Breakfasts were the usual RI fare. Staff were friendly and helpful... Peter at the front desk even put together a tray for me! Easy drive to Newport and other activities. Reasonable prices compared to Newport.

My son and I stayed in a two-bedroom two full bath suite which was very spacious. The hotel itself was not far from the tourist spots in Newport. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. But three stars because of the noisy central AC system that kept me up during the night. Also, and unlike the thermostat in the Marriott Fairfield Inn in Uncasville CT, this thermostat was both quirky and poorly operating. I would press LO for the fan speed to try to keep the room more comfortable with constant air flow. But after switching the display from the set temperature to displaying the room temp, it would switch back to AUTO for the speed, which ultimately led to a three-degree difference between the two temperatures. The room temp was always warmer, and besides the noise, helped to keep me up while I was attempting to sleep.

My wife and I recently checked in for a 5 day stay. We unpacked , had dinner and settled in for the night. We noticed that the television was almost unwatchable. My wife contacted the front desk and the person on duty told us she'd refer it to the engineer. We did the Cliff Walk the next day and when we returned to the hotel , that same person told us the engineer's response was that the part of the building our room was in has always had cable problems and that nothing could be done. She offered to move our room but that wasn't acceptable. We made our reservations in May and yet we still ended in a room with faulty services. A little while later , a young man named Isaiah came up to see what he could do. He spent quite a bit of time and was ultimately successful. We thanked him for his efforts and stopped at the desk the next morning to talk to the manager. She was appalled at the unnamed engineer's response to the situation. She was very apologetic and insisted that never should have happened. She did arrange some compensation for us as well. The Residence Inn is nicely set up with an easy back door access to the Mansions and other Newport attractions but the quality of the staff at a Marriott property is more important to a successful visit. We are fortunate enough to be able to travel quite a bit and stay with the Marriott family whenever possible. We understand that sometimes things can happen but the measure of a property is how the staff responds. To us , Isaiah went above and beyond to correct the situation as did the manager. I wish I had gotten her name but she did everything right and certainly turned around our early feelings about the Residence Inn Newport. We also appreciated the COVID protocol and the other members of the staff we interacted with. Thank You, Paige and Steve
