There are a lot of extra to-dos that come with traveling these days; getting tested for COVID, wearing a mask, filling out multiple forms, etc. I expected the room to be clean as well. We stayed in the Micro King room (311)- which is exactly how it sounds. Immediately, we found hair stuck to the wall of the shower. There was also a mildew smell from the leaking toilet tank and used q-tips behind the mini fridge. I dropped a glove back there which is why I went there and then sanitized the gloves to no end. After the 2nd night, the heat started cranking and would not turn off. They offered us a fan. The toilet paper holder was about to fall off the wall. They have apple tv devices in every room, but no remotes...they're 'phasing them out.' Well aware that I had booked one of the last rooms in the city for the weekend, I did not raise a stink about anything. They would probably tell us that's the only room and we'll have to deal or hang out in the room while a maintenance man fixes the laundry list of things. Other than the cleanliness of the room, the hotel is conveniently located and the staff is very nice. Let's say we weren't in the middle of a pandemic, the cleanliness of this room would still not be okay.

Booked this hotel for a special evening celebrating an anniversary. Decided to get the best room on property “the lark suite” also added on the strawberry amenity and a beer/snack amenity. Was very much looking forward to a special evening. Prior to check in I received a call asking about my arrival time so the amenities could be prepared (ice and such) - it made me feel great that they were taking the extra step. Upon check in I met a very pleasant gentleman named Joe. He was fantastic and very helpful. He told me upon check in that the building has a very odd heating/cooling system. In the summer you can only utilize the cool function and fall winter you can only use the heat. Seemed innocent enough ... The lark suite is a loft bedroom set up, the bed is right by the heating system. It was unbearably stifling in the room there was absolutely no way to sleep comfortably in that room. The amenities - the beer was warm and in a bucket with no ice. For that matter no water in the bucket meaning there was never any ice to attempt to keep my high priced amenity cold. I went and saw Joe at the desk- with zero hesitation he moved me to the room right next door. Our new room - trash under the dresser - shower didn’t drain so my ankles got a nice bath... Check out - front desk agent asked “are you checking out, what is your room number?” I stated that I started in room 104 and ended in room 103. Her response - would you like to leave the charges on the card on file? ARE YOU SERIOUS... she didn’t even acknowledge my room switch, inquire about my stay, just felt like she was hoping I would quietly exit. After explaining the situation I was offered a 30$ voucher for a future stay at a Lark property. The manager also stated they would be taking some money off for my bad amenity. I was so disappointed in this attempt at service recovery I just walked out... For starters why wasn’t my room rate reduced? I started and paid for your best room but then had to move to a different category and less expensive room which had TRASH in it from a prior guest. During these covid days extra attention to cleanliness should be top of mind. Your front desk staff are your last line of defense to give service recovery to guests that might of had a bad experience. Your front desk staff that I encountered (not joe) are doing your property a disservice by not proactively inquiring about your guests stay I’ve worked in hospitality, specifically operations for luxury boutique hotels, for 10 years and can tell you the guest service I received was sub par at best. The heating/cooling set up on property is a joke and you should give Joe a raise Feel free to contact me to discuss further I stayed in the lark suite on nov 19th.

Wow!!! Great looking hotel but let me tell you a few things. First of all our room on the 3rd floor was ok! WE HEARD everything on the rooftop bar which was above our room. No one let us know that it would be so damn loud. I brought it up to the make front desk agent and he was so lost didn’t really say much about it but that I should check out the bar! Really!!!! I work in the hotel industry and worst response ever. Now our door keys stopped working so the young lady came up and said our battery was dead that we need to go downstairs and get a regular key. WHAT!!!! How about replace the battery. Shower the water barely came out. I had to personally clean out the shower head as it was clogged. Not to mention the hair in the drain. Gross. Now the toilet. Keeps running. We give up and would not recommend staying here. First time ever to Salem. Thanks for the great experience. Now I know what to make sure I tell my staff about my hotel experience. By the way black mold in our room above the door is not healthy. Room 305

This hotel by far was the best pace I have ever stayed. A day before our reservation Olivia called to confirm the reservation and gave me some helpful tips about getting to the hotel and what to expect. I got texts/emails throughout my stay from information on things to do or just a reminder on checkout times etc. The staff was amazing, on the way in and out of the hotel we would stop and chat with each one. They were all so nice and always happy to talk and give us ideas on what to do or see in the area. The room was gorgeous! Clean, comfortable and the welcome letter with cookies was so nice. I can not wait to go back to this location. Thank you to the THS crew!

Hotel staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing. Super friendly and a great location in the center of it all. Near all shops and restaurants with a short walk to many attractions...
