We decided to stay at Casa Rita for different reasons. One of them the #1 rating it has at Tripadvisor. Yet, when we got there we were not satisfied with a lot of details. The apartment was very dusty. The sheets didn't seem to be clean. The pillows smelled like someone else (other than us) slept on them. Fitted sheets didn't match flat sheets. The person at the reception upon our arrival was new and helpless. And, last but not least the cable stop working the last two days of our stay.
We looked for another hotel to move, but everything was pretty much booked. While checking out other places I did realized that Casa Rita is not the best option in El Yaque.
Places I would recommend are:
- Hotel Atti, which, for the most part, had professional staff, an excellent chef (great food for a great price), and nice facilities as well. Note that they have a great happy hour from 5-7pm on weekdays.
- Hotel Casa Viento: it's a real beautiful place. We didn't try the restaurant, but the staff on the ground was really professional and helpful. Also, they have someone in the States to answer questions and writes back really fast.
- Hotel Windsurfers Oasis. Located on main street. This one is very nice too. The staff was very nice and professional and the facilities are beautiful, plus you are right on the beach.
All of the hotels above have a pool and are very well kept.
Note that although all the hotels were full the main street wasn't so busy or annoying during week nights. We are a family with small children and we find the atmosphere pleasant and not noisy or crazy as some people found druing January. I wouln't go on local holidays to any beach spot in Venezuela though. It's bound to be wild and crazy during local holidays. Unless that's what you are looking for.
To the merit of Casa Rita, the breakfast were delicious and they provide you with a gamut of Venezuelan breakfast choices. And, I know what I am talking about as I am Venezuelan. It's a very harty breakfast!
The other staff members at the hotel were professional and nice for the most part and the manager, Maria, was really great. She accomodated all our family needs. So, in this regard we had a very good time, but I am afraid Casa Rita is not close to being the best option in town.
