. Location: nestles within the old quarter of Hanoi, the E Central is indeed centrally located near all Hanoi attractions. Steps away from Hoan Kiem lake (3-5 mins walking) which has other attractions within itself - Turtle Tower, Ngoc Son temple and The Huc bridge. Temple of Literature is about 20-30 mins stroll. The area is overflowed with local restaurants/street food, local shops and convenient stores.
. Hotel: A remodeled old building which reminisces romantic notion of bygone days but with modern classic amenities - big doors open up to the hotel restaurant in black and white tiled floor, small bistro type tables with white table cloth. front space was decorated with a huge planter of tangerine tree since the Lunar New Year was still lingering in the air; and elegant staircase took us to the reception lounge which was well designed with dark wood, modern vintage furniture (or look alike) and good lightings; small hotel room with dark hardwood floor and furnished with vintage dark wood furnitures (some could be vintage/antique), simple all white sheet queen beds, on the table are basket of exotic tropical fruit (longyan, rambutan and small bananas), jars of candied ginger slices, small biscuit, candied asian green plum, an electric kettle for hot water and assortment of tea bags. Bathroom floor is tiled, granite sink countertop, spacious free standing shower without tub, the toilet has spraying hose in place of a bidet, the small folded wash towels has a fresh orchid laying on top. All in all, the hotel is tastefully remodeled/designed with great attention to details.
Price: very reasonable for this location, hotel features and breakfast buffet.
Staff: Well spoken staff, professional, friendly, cordial and helpful. Hot honey ginger tea was offered in the lounge while the staff checking in/checking out guests. staff was very helpful with airport transfer booking, restaurant recommendation, local attraction direction and always greet us with smiles on their faces. Booking was easy and staff was in constant communication prior to my arrival to confirm and welcome me to the hotel. The booked airport transfer was easy, safe and the price was reasonable.
Restaurant: breakfast was included in the price, buffet style that offers Vietnamese and continental hot breakfast - poached eggs was fresh and poached to perfection; small tasty pastry, petit four; homemade yoghurt, fresh juice, fresh exotic tropical fruit (dragon fruit, watermelon, papaya...), pho soup (beef or chicken)... all sound like other hotels buffet but the quality of the food at E Central is boutique quality, I'm speaking from my own experience of having buffet breakfasts at other hotels in other parts of Vietnam. Dinner is highly recommended, Cha ca lang was done to perfection and the Nem ran (or Cha gio, fried spring rolls) is the best I've had - the shell was made thin rice paper and fried to golden crispy shell. Vietnamese nem ran/cha gio has to be rolled in rice paper NOT the wheat flour sheet like Hong Kong spring roll or Philippine lumpia at some other Vietnamese places/restaurants that I've had.
. I'm happy I found Hanoi E Central and will stay here again next time I'm visiting Hanoi. I also would like to mention Mr. Thang who did a great job welcoming me and helping with the airport transfer booking prior to my arrival.
