Family backpack travelling around Vietnam for 3 weeks with 9 year old boy. We stumbled across this hotel as we didn’t book in advance. We walked in and was given a very competitive rate to stay. We were given the chance to view room first and we were impressed. The swimming pool is perfect. The gym is small and fantastic with new equipment. The staff member wants to make sure we look after it so he try’s to help you :) The location is great, opposite the beach, storey beach club. Great banh mi cart 50 m down the road - you won’t be disappointed. Breakfast has a great variety. The 4 stars relates to front of house needs to slightly improve and also our floor in the room is lifting and bath is not sealed in so you get nervous having shower with water going down the sides of the bath.

We stayed at Sochi for 3 nights we just walked in with no booking, the rooms are decent and cheeper then online websites. Its a fairly new hotel close to beach, pool and gym on the roof top, only down side was front of house had limited English but bear in mind this is Vietnam. Also the bar at the pool wasn't serving any alcohol so it was a byo job for guests, a win for some. There is no tourist desk for guests, and the gym opens late so if your a gym lover as myself there's no 6am cardio. This place has a pretty good gym with new equipment for a hotel so that's a bonus.

Our 4 night stay at this hotel was very disappointing. The location is not great and the bathroom a ridiculous set up. It is impossible to have a shower without flooding the entire bathroom. The buffet breakfast was terrible, with poor quality food, definitely not fresh. Only one type of tea (peach) and terrible coffee. We had to continually ask for butter as there was never any out. Each time we asked for butter, we felt like it was being rationed. We had ask a man to I believe was a manager for a knife. I watched him go to the trolley with the dirty plates and cutlery and take two knives from the dirty ones and wiped them with a paper napkin. Needless to say we didn't use the knives. No one at the hotel spoke English so communication was almost impossible. The fridge in the room did not keep anything cold. When we asked about it, we were told it only cools not make things cold. Other guests staying with us at the hotel asked for ice to chill their drinks and were charged for the ice. Other guests were also charged for using the two bottles of water in the "fridge". Cleaners came at 8.45 to clean the room while we were showering. We asked them to come back a bit later after we had finished our showers. The room wasn't cleaned at all that day. Overall a terrible experience. If it wasn't prepaid we would have gone to another hotel.

The hotel is well situated, off a small lane on the main road - very close to the beach near the Story restaurant/beer house. The views from the pool are good. The rooms look like they have been recently refurbished and were very comfortable. As a fellow reviewer has posted, the shower was over the bath (in my room) and there is no shower screen so the floor gets flooded. The carpets in the common areas could do with replacing or a good steam clean. The staff were very friendly, but the staff in the restaurant had limited English. The buffet was ok - we had the pho each morning and it was great, but there could have been a larger selection of fruit. The juice and coffee tasted a little strange. I would stay again. But, if you look around you could also find similar, (if not better) hotels for the price point.

Utterly disappointed with our stay here. We showed an hour before check in to the power being out due to the construction currently going on which is fine but being honest and transparent about that on their website would have been appreciated. We asked if we could go up to their beautiful rooftop pool we saw online and we were told it's still under construction. Say what?!? Wow. During our dreadful 24 hours there we constantly shared their elevators with the construction workers and staff which doesn't bother us but the dusty elevator would literally stop 5-6 times easily for the construction workers and staff before we got to our 15th floor room. The hallway leading up to our room had cords running through it to open dusty rooms under construction which is fine but once again we had no clue we were walking into this. The staff did their best to make us happy but they are pretty much set up for failure with this current situation that people have no idea they're walking into. However when we were checking out the cleaning lady brought down two towels that she told the front were ruined and we have to pay for them with attitude and she had the nastiest tone in her voice while giving us nasty glances with a scowl on her face. Really? We don't speak Vietnamese but it was obvious to see. 1 towel was admittedly dirty but it was because there is no shower curtain and we used it to wipe up the water that was everywhere due to no shower curtain. We explained that and the manager on duty understood and and we didn't have to pay for that one. The other towel that was supposedly ruined was from my girlfriend using tiger balm for her ankle due to spraining it the previous week and using the towel to put it under and wiping it off with so as not muck up anything. Wouldn't bleaching the towel take care of the stains? I think most of the world would say yes but apparently not the sochi hotel. I generally don't like to be negative but we were so disappointed with this place I have to warn others. I truthfully don't get how this place can have a bunch of good reviews. Some advice to the owners would be put on your website that there is no pool available and that you are still under construction so people know what to expect.
