We have traveled all over SE Asia for the past 3 months and this was the worst hotel/guest house we have stayed in. Upon check in, the owner demanded we pay an extra 100,000 VND (approx 5 USD) to use the air con, although it was included on the listing we booked online. Then the owner allowed us to check in early however told us the room had not been cleaned yet from a previous guest and promised it would be cleaned later. Someone came to our room to "clean" while we were out, but only folded the blanket...didn't change the stained sheets, didn't take out the previous guests rubbish, or clean the bathroom. The hotel was obviously empty so I'm not sure why we didn't get a clean room to begin with. The next morning the electricity went off around 6:00am, so we left early to go on a boat tour of Tam Coc, when we came back the electricity was back on and the owner demanded another 100,000 VND for air con for our second night. The electricity went off again that afternoon and never came back on. I guess he didn't have a generator like all the other hotels in the area. We checked out a day early and he was very upset that we asked for our 100,000 VND to be refunded for the second night (there was no power!). We have been backpacking all over Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam so we are very accustomed to a wide range of guest houses, hostels and hotels, however this was by far the worst one we've encountered.
