Supposed to be a Ritz property, but felt like a Marriott. Service is poor and we were supposed to have a concierge, and the never checked on us once. Avoid this property, failed on all accounts. Only good thing was the views

Family of 7 adults and 2 children for a 7 night stay. Property was very nice and the 3 bedroom villa was perfect. Our cleaning staff(Ruth) was very friendly and did a great job of making sure the room was spotless with plenty of towels. The restaurants had very good food. The Cove has a very nice pool side bar and has a really good burger. The Bleu Waters has the bottomless Mimosa brunch, which was a favorite of my daughters. The management at Alloro was extremely accommodating when we showed up 30 minutes before they opened with 4 more people than our reservation was supposedly made for. The biggest issue we experienced was with the concierge service. We had 1 reservation out of 7 that ended up being done correctly. Some had the wrong number of adults, some had the wrong time or day, and some were cancelled or never made. My advice to any future guests would be that anything done by the concierge service should be double checked or verified. Most of the restaurants were very accommodating and fit us in as quickly as they could. It seemed at times that the number of staff was low. Most times there was no one walking the pool to see if you wanted drinks, there was only one person to set up the pool area in the morning, and we had to call almost daily to get our cookies(my daughters liked them). The staff was pleasant and helpful. Overall it was a good experience, but substandard for a Ritz-Carlton. The concierge service needs improvement and the staffing numbers needs to be increased when they near maximum capacity.

This was our 1st time at this location. It lived up to its well earned name. The property is so lovely and the location of the water, sand and pool all within feet of each other gives you what you want one minute and then the next minute. Service was outstanding, as expected. The island staff is so gracious and professional. We will be repeat visitors.

This was our first visit to the property and as owners we have certain expectations. This Club met and exceeded them all. Nice corner room in the Iris building on the 2nd floor which overlooked the pool and wonderful views of the bay to St John through the palms (would have preferred at least the 3rd floor but that's just nitpicking ). Service at Coconut Cove was excellent (highly recommend Mark's Bloody Mary - his own mix and it's delicious). Access to the hotel side was nice but we preferred the club side beach. Would highly recommend a Lady Lynsey excursion during your stay - they were a fantastic group and the time spent onboard was thoroughly enjoyed. We will return !

I just read some of the reviews that have been posted about the Ritz in st Thomas and I can’t help but agree with some of the points of concern. We traveled with our two children and agree the property is lovely. The club level had great food, the staff is very overworked without days off. Working long hours. I was concerned that the staff was going to disappoint us upon our arrival but the club level staff did the very eat they could and the food was great! Best omelet and fresh fruit for breakfast and always a nice soup and salad and sandwiches for lunch and the happy hour had tons to select from. Enough for a meal. It is true the coffee station did run out as did the wine areas. But there was not enough staff to help the amount of people that were using the club area. The staff was run ragged from cleaning up to serving. But 9 out of 10 times there was a smile and they were more than accommodating. Catherine, Peter, and the rest of the crew really worked hard! We also had a club level beach area but I could not figure out the benefit of the separate beach as there was not any club level service on the beach. The pathway from the club beach to the pool was less than desirable as it ran along the mangrove ( which could be lovely) but this area is also the service cart path- Thai could be softened a lot by adding some grasses among making the path more desirable. Understanding there needs to be the service area, why not just make the entries and the areas more attractive? I get money ??? But seriously some mulch and floral plantings, aloe for guest to use ... grasses, palms maybe some lattice fencing or bamboo ... could enhance this area. Charles and Aaron as well as another Aaron were so helpful at the beach assisting with chairs and towels. Housekeeping did a great job the issues we had was getting the times of service correct but after our third day we finally got it all straightened out. And the other issue ( my biggest pet peave was housekeeping not taking the dishes from the room when cleaning for turn down. One other detail is that housekeeping didn’t check the balconies consistently for cleaning and turndown. The steps to the rooms had the same dust balls in them the entire week of our stay. I’m certain thIs is due to being understaffed. The gift shop needs to have more of a size selection and more rash guards for ladies, kids and men of all sizes I know this is a shipping issue. I thought the shopping selection in the spa was much more interesting for both ladies and men and more up to date. The spa was nice but again not enough staff to fulfill the requested services, Jennifer had to do my daughter and my husbands pedicures so no one could do services at the same time and we had to spread them out throughout the day, she even did my facial. It would have been nice if we could all do near the same time so we could enjoy day together, once again not enough staff. Tennis courts were nice - Gerome really had us laughing as we did family clinics. He was super!! The racquets should be an embarrassment for the Ritz to share with its guests, simply inexcusable for a hotel like this to not have top notch rackets. There was a dead iguana for two days on the courts and I had to let someone know about it. This brings me to events and what to do at the resort. We were never given a paper of activities - yoga? Kids club? Tennis clinics? Pool Bingo??? Were there any???? We would have loved an agenda delivered each night for the next days events. If there were any. We did take the sports kayaks And sailing as well as snorkeling out and this we fun. Again, it seemed that there could have been a couple of more sailors for the ride along sailing excisions because they were booked solid we managed to fit in two and we all had fun! Restaurants on property just were not good - we Felt this is in great need of improvement. My husband really wished for a newspaper to be delivered to the room. and yes the golf carts took a long time to get to areas to pick you up... once again.... not enough staff. With all of this said, we hope the owners and management of the property take this review along with the others and put a bit more money into the things that seem like not a big deal, but they are the things that make you stand apart from the others.
