Auckland Airport
General Requirement
As of January 2023, there are no travel restrictions imposed on visiting New Zealand in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The obligation to fill out a Traveler Declaration is no longer necessary.
- It is no longer mandatory to provide proof of COVID vaccination or testing.
- However, individual airlines may have their own specific requirements.
New Zealand remains open to welcoming tourists and visitors, but it is important for everyone to adhere to the prevailing public health guidelines, such as staying at home if feeling unwell and self-isolating if testing positive for COVID-19.
Currently, there is no mandatory New Zealand Traveler Declaration required for passengers. Instead, passengers arriving at specific international airports in New Zealand will have the option to fill out an online declaration starting from July 2023.
- For passengers arriving at Christchurch airport or Wellington airport, the online declaration option will be available from the week commencing 10 July 2023.
- For passengers arriving at Queenstown airport, the online declaration option will be available from sometime between mid to late July 2023.
- As for passengers arriving at Auckland airport, they will have access to the online declaration option later in August 2023.
Transit Requirements
If passengers pass through New Zealand while en route to another country without any intention of staying, they are considered transit passengers.
In New Zealand, transit is only allowed through Auckland International Airport. Passengers must remain within the designated transit area of the airport and are not permitted to apply for entry into New Zealand. The transit period can last for a maximum of 24 hours.
