Entry Restrictions Exemptions

Passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival. Vaccines accepted are AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax) and Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty)

Additional Entry Requirements

Effective 9 January 2023, passengers from China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (SAR China) or Macao (SAR China) in the past 14 days must have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated. The vaccination certificate must be in English or Spanish. This does not apply to:
- nationals and residents of Costa Rica;
- passengers < 12 years.
Passengers who have been in China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (SAR China) or Macao (SAR China) in the past 14 days must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken at most 3 x 24 hours before arrival. The test certificate must be in English or Spanish. This does not apply to nationals and residents of Costa Rica.
Nationals and residents of Costa Rica who have been in China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (SAR China) or Macao (SAR China) in the past 14 days could be subject to self-isolation for 7 days.
Passengers entering Costa Rica must have travel insurance to cover COVID-19 expenses and accommodation costs valid for the period of their intended stay.
A COVID-19 vaccination certificate, in English or Spanish, shows that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival.
- Vaccines accepted are AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm, and Sinovac.
