The guided tour around the island was a very good choice. The guide, Malcolm, was very detailed in his commentary and I learnt much from him. It will be a much better option than cycling, especially if you’re not a very strong cyclist.

Don’t miss this out if you are in Perth. I arrived early in the Jetty to give myself time to change my voucher to tickets for my 2 way journey and the bus tour. There are many options to go around the Island but the easiest way is to take the bus tour. I availed the bus tour that took 1.5 hours. After the tour you are free to roam around but make sure you are in the port at least 20minutes before departure. I walked to Pinky beach, a lessthan 1km walf one way. Quokkas are so cute. I have lots of pics and videos of them. The ferry trip took an hour and a half one way (1 hour Swan River trip and 30mins Indian Ocean trip). Literally, you can feel the fast journey of the ferry while in the Ocean. If you have sea sickness, please bring your meds.The staffs can provide sea sickness bags, they are roaming around the ferry. Amazingly, we saw 2 dolphins following our ferry in the swan river.

The Discover Bus Tour was a great way to explore the island. The bus was comfortable and air-conditioned, which was a welcome relief on a hot day. Our guides commentary was engaging, informative, and humorous. He shared interesting facts about the islands history, culture, and unique flora and fauna.

Highly recommend the ferry from Perth and bus tour combination if you’re interested in the history along Swan River and Rottnest island. Our guide - Malcolm was great, informative and entertaining.

Redemption was easy. Rottnest Express even provided us with a complimentary shuttle service from our hotel. The bus tour was good with excellent commentary. Overall, the experience was amazing. Our family enjoyed ourselves at Rottnest Island, especially swimming is the pristine waters and Quokkas.
