This was the first utopian site we visited, and we visited three others. It is probably the first utopian place I'm least likely to return to despite being extremely impressed with the design and location. The pitches are quite generous and clearly marked, not always the case at other utopia sites the ground was very hard, so pegging out our awning was quite tricky, but it was level and in an attractive woodland setting. There are supermarkets in the town a short drive or 30 minute walk away, so stock up on essentials, and the one essential item you require is mosquito protection. It wasn't until our second day that I realized how many bites I had received. I was like a pin cushion, as were most of my family. For the next few weeks, these itched like crazy and we suspect the stagnant and highly smelly lake is likely the home of many of them. A wonderful feature is the natural pool. My kids really enjoyed it, and it was nice to take a dip when the heat got too much. The toilets and showers are excellent, very good facilities. We were hoping to board the train to Paris, but there was a power problem at Gare de Montmartre, so we spent some time in Rambouillet primarily in the gardens and grounds of the château, where we hired a rose and pedaled around the lake on a pedal. When we stay here for a weekend, we can also enjoy the great view, but at night it has a terrible view. I hope to come back here again.

In keeping with other utopia campsites, rambouillet has a rustic and casual atmosphere. The pitches are clearly marked, and most are separated by hedges, making them private. Due to the woody environment, many pitches are shady and dusty, so if you're looking for a grassy campground in August, this place is not for you. The activities area has a climbing frame, table tennis tables, and a volleyball court, all in excellent condition. The swimming pool is beautiful. The campsite is situated close to the city of rambouillet, which is well worth a bike ride. Mountain biking in the woods surrounding the campsite is a fantastic experience. The past reviewers had reported that there were no signs of large numbers of mosquitoes either. Overall, we had a nice time at this campsite and felt compelled to write an up-to-date review that reflected the improvements that have been made since previous reviews were written.

My 4-night stay with 2 small children was wonderful, beautifully laid out, with each pitch surrounded by trees. The shower and toilet were always clean, the water pressure was perfect, the water hot. There was staff cleaning the facilities all day, which increased our respect for them. I never saw hair or rubbish left anywhere. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. Always available to assist. They all spoke excellent English. The kid's activities were well planned and free or very cheap. The kids went on a pony ride for 3 people which was the only thing we paid extra for. There was a nice playground, volley ball and table tennis available. They provided face painting and arts and crafts for free. Every day there was something to do. The restaurant was simple but the food was good and reasonably priced. Every morning, fresh bread and pastries were available. There is a beautiful walk around the lake and the space rambouillet had many activities. The castle de la Madeleine is fantastic for the entire family. The natural pool on the campsite is lovely. I would return to this campground and use Utopia again in the future. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful vacation.

beucoup de moustiques qui genent c´est pour cela qu´on a annule notre sejour au camping sans meme y psser une nuit. on a demande l´annulation sur place sans aucune reponse positive et le pire que le camping a retrancher la somme de 6 jours. dans le pire des cas d´annulation il faut au max prendre 30%.???
