El Turcal

This charming country house is located on a farm on the edge of the meadows, in a protected area close to Valle del Jerte (15 km), the shops and nightlife of Plasencia, and Monfragüe National Park (both 25 km). The eco hotel is just 1. 8 km from the centre of Torremenga where guests will find bars and a public park. There is a bus station approximately 5 km from the finca, the nearest train station is some 30 km, and further links to the public transport network are to be found in Plasencia. Caceres is approximately an hour and a half by car. Originally a 10th century barn for drying peppers and 'tinadas', the finca was meticulously restored using local materials and traditional building techniques, with no fixed 'style' adhered to. The overriding feel of this hotel is one of spaciousness and light achieved by the open plan spaces and large windows. In the interior the terracotta tiled floors fit perfectly with the stone walls, all in harmony with the interiors featuring timber, wrought iron, modern fabrics, comfortable sofas and two fireplaces. The atmosphere is further improved with discrete ornaments, aromas of mimosa or logan berries, pineapples and pumpkins and candles which add colour and aromas. The air-conditioned design hotel offers 11 rooms in total and facilities include a lobby, breakfast/dining room, WLAN Internet access, room and laundry services, a car park and a bicycle hire service (fees apply). The spacious rooms are flooded with natural light coming in through the balcony. All different, some with sloping ceilings in wood, others with beautiful stone walls and bright colours, the rooms feature an en suite bathroom with a bathtub, a double or king-size bed, a TV, individually regulated heating and air conditioning, Internet access and a hairdryer upon request.
