Our room was clean and had a wonderful view of the dunes from the patio. We opted for a traditional style room. There were many options for breakfast (though very few gluten free or soy free options, so be prepared). The sink was separate from the toilet and shower which made washing up at the end of the day easy. There are several cats that wander the property as well as dozens of hummingbirds. Be sure to keep an eye out! They also rent our sand sleds for about $25/day which was very convenient! The staff at the front desk told us how to use them. The dirt road is a little confusing to navigate, but basically keep to the right until you see signs for the lodge.

The view was amazing (you can see the dunes perfectly) and so was the room, got to see the Milky Way in the clear sky and even a little bit of the northern lights down the road…HOWEVER…the best part of it all was Peppermint the cat. He wanders around the lot and they have a note about him on the office door. He came to see us the night we were there and laid in my boyfriend’s lap while he read and slept for almost an hour! The sweetest lil boy. The cherry on top of a wonderful stay! I’d love to come back soon.

Fantastic location and a fantastic view of the grand vista that makes up the sand dunes and the Sangre de Cristo mountain range in the back drop. As a added bonus for birders the property has set up multiple humming bird feeders in front of the rooms and the 3 species that we saw at the feeders provide entertaintment all day. The park it self is 2 miles down the road making it easy to get to the park early for hikes and back in the room to beat the heat of the day (we were ther in July). Staff are very frrienly, rooms are clean large and nice patio to shoot the breeze or watch the birds. As for breakfast.... well let's not spoil the vibe

We stayed in small camper. The location in the campground and the campground's nearness to the park were both excellent. We were even entertained by some rapidly moving hummingbirds right by our deck. The office even rents boards for use on the dunes. We highly recommend.

Ask for the run down at check in. Evidently there was a pool ? That’s on me. Everything was amazing! Clean bathrooms, comfy bed could see the sand dunes from our bed if we opened the door. Such a nice stay!

Our room had a covered patio which was very nice for enjoying time outside while looking a the beautiful view of the dunes. The room was clean and comfortable. The “grab and go” breakfast had a variety of nice options, including make your own waffles.

The toilets/showers are shared, but there are enough so that you're never waiting to use them. Everyone was super kind and respectful, and the views were spectacular. The geodesic domes get really hot if the sun is out at all, but are super cozy at night. Unfortunately, they are not very sound-proof. You can hear the entire campgrounds. Otherwise, the other guests were respectful of the 10pm quiet time. Awesome stay!

Very great location to access the national park! Staff are super friendly and the room was very clean! We found the grab and go breakfast to be very extensive and more than enough to start the day. You can also hire a sandboard for $25 a day if you are so inclined!
