We had a beautiful room with a balcony facing the water. We were treated to a pod of dolphins and an orca viewing in the morning. Warm and friendly home base for exploring Alert Bay. Walkable from the ferry as we went on foot. Quiet on a Sunday but exactly what we were after. We missed the summer crowds and felt like we had the bay to ourselves. Highly recommend hanging your hat at the inn.

Think bed and breakfast, in a heritage house, with lovely seaside decor, and owners who are passionate about sharing their property and its history with visitors from all over the globe. A continental breakfast is offered in a common sunroom with unbeatable ocean views and comfy chairs, blankets and binoculars to focus in on otters, eagles and the occasional whale passing by. There is a restaurant on site for lunch and dinner, with indoor seating as well as a seaside deck for outdoor dining. Each suite has its own full bathroom, private patio area, and a mini fridge (but no microwave). There is a grocery store just down the road, as well as a couple of restaurants, a pub, and a liquor store all within walking distance.

Nimpkish Hotel is an excellent place to stay on Cormorant Island. We arrived very late at night due to a late last ferry but the owners and staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. The facility was clean and charming. Breakfast overlooked the beautiful harbour and offered lots of options. Highly recommend.

This is a 100 year old hotel in the village of Alert Bay. Our room had a small balcony with a great view. The breakfast included bread, fruit and yogurt. The dining room downstairs had a limited menu. Don’t pay any attention to the one posted online. Prices, of course were higher , but the food was good.

Amazing location on the water with the added bonus of a restaurant on site. Varied and fresh items for a self-serve breakfast. Walls are thin so bring ear plugs as not all guests are respectful. The owner was great at providing information about the area and the ferry before arrival.

Thank you to Will, for upgrading us to an ocean view room, where we could sit on the deck and admire the stunning ocean view. The complementary breakfast was substantial, again with fantastic views. Dinner in the restaurant was convenient and delicious. We highly recommend the Nimkish Hotel

Loved this place! Heritage property. Owners on site. During a power outage the hotel was the only business on the island to have a generator. No lights upstairs but candles were provided. Generator ran the kitchen and the restaurant was buzzing. The owners made the adventure fun!!! I’d stay again and hope for a power outage!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Nimpkish! We stayed in the Romantic room on the top floor and very much enjoyed our deck which had the most incredible sunset ocean view. The owners were the best! Very friendly and visible throughout our stay! Breakfast provided in the sunroom was excellent! Coffee, tea, OJ, hardboiled eggs, toast, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc. It was wonderful to eat in the morning in a town that has few restaurants. Just to note... this Romantic room does not have a shower but it does have a very large sunken tub with at handheld shower nozzle which was no problem for us. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return!

The Nimpkish hotel is charming and delightful. There is not a more beautiful spot. I stayed here for several nights as a woman traveling alone and could not have enjoyed it more. The owners and staff are delightful. I can't wait to return.
