Located on the lovely Gulag Yau island across a channel from Ximen. Charming renovated property with lots of space and a garden. Bellboy drove the group's luggage off the ferry to the hotel while everyone was touring the island in three hours. No cars are permitted on the island. The room and bed were great if a little cold in December, and the unexpected jacuzzi in the bathroom was great. Lack of elevators can mean the elderly may have problems reaching levels 2 and 3, so make sure you get the ground floor if knees are a problem. For breakfast, we first received instructions and ultimately were escorted to a separate building three minutes away for the pretty grim and unappealing offerings, though this was the morning after New Year's Eve. I ended up with white toast and coffee. Would return if they have a decent breakfast room and bar!.

Hotel Lin is the most peaceful and beautiful place to live in the Ximen island. Old building from the outside predicts the historic architect but from the inside the rooms are very modern interior designed. Breakfast was great and quality service.

The hotel had been awarded several awards for the quality of it's restoration. It has a lovely garden and lots of buildings. The rooms are modern, big and comfortable. The service was excellent and the food was only Chinese.

We reserved a long weekend at this beautiful restored mansion on Gulangyu with a long past. After our excursion, we took a deluxe king room, which turned out to be in the building with a very modern white interior. Although there isnt a pool on the property, that was fine with us, we did wish there was a decent bar either inside the main building or outside in the courtyard, which would have made our stay more pleasant after a hard day of exploring the island. Sadly, there are few bars offering a place to unwind during the afternoon or evening. A proper gin tonic would have made our spirits happier!.

My daughter and I had a great time staying at this hotel. Although the bed is firm, it's still comfy. The buffet breakfast is a good combination of local and western dishes, which my kids love.
