I recently stayed at La Garrotte and had a wonderful time! The pool was lovely, the room was cozy, and there was a restaurant on the grounds serving tasty food! The town of mature was a short walk from the hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I advise renting a car at the airport as taxis are expensive and public transportation buses are limited and unreliable. Renting a cheap car is about 30 euros. I had a great time.

My stay was great, the front desk staff were friendly, accommodating, and nicolas, the director, very helpful and engaging. The hotel was a little far from the center of Cayenne, and a taxi was quite expensive, but I knew it beforehand. The restaurant was excellent. My room was fine. The price points were acceptable. The pool was small, but it was a clean pool and very welcome after a long day of sightseeing. Apart from the hotel and the property, there were no taxis when arriving by plane, for example, from Beem at very early hour. This could have been complicated, but with persistence and creativity, I found a taxi driver who took me to the hotel. Taxis are very expensive in French Guyana. When traveling into cayenne, the very helpful hotel staff advised me to leave their property and walk left along the highway for about 4 intersections, not big intersections less than 10 minutes walk and then just behind an identifiable city hall, a bus stop where the bus headed to the center of Cayenne, where you could walk around to avoid China town. It costs 2 or 3 euros each way. It's important to note and, thankfully, hotel staff advised, that if returning to the hotel by bus, you must do so by 4, or at least 5 in the afternoon. Why?
