We chose to travel from sweden to Düsseldorf in a one-stop stop rather than attempting to go around in one. To be very precise, we had to stop somewhere between Bremen and Osnabruck, not too far from the highway or a little town with a few lodging and dining options. After some unsuccessful inquiries in the area and the nights progress, we concluded that going to verden would be the ideal route to check out any places else that appeared good. Der Heidkrug, which is located on the left of the road about halfway to Verden, is a former barn that has been repurposed into a welcoming and wellappointed small hotel restaurant in the midst of a woodland. Heidi gave us a very warm and sincere welcome, which assured us that she had a space for us and a nice meal as soon as we were settled in. We stayed in a first-floor room in the adjacent motel-style accommodation building. The room was soundproof because the occasional big vehicles passing at night did not disturb us. Heidi's evening dinner options were typically hearty, a pancakewaffle thing filled with warm alcohol-poached cherries with jams that made for a terrific dessert, and as she promised, the breakfast options were also generous and appetizing. We spent the night here while biking around. The hotel is quite old, with some parts dating from the late 1700 s. The staff was nice and the food in the restaurant was pretty good. The only complaint is that the highway runs just a few feet from the hotel and the traffic seems to never stop.

On our way back home, we stayed here for one night. Very nice and friendly staff. The room is clean and functional, the rest of the time the room is comfortable. Excellent breakfast, great restaurant with authentic German cuisine. Overall, really good value for money.
