We had such a pleasant stay there, if you are not accustomed to being locals, the inns traditional japanese vibes only enhance its appeal and beauty. Thank you for your kind hospitality! Eimi-san was the reason we fell in love with the place, she welcomed us with incredibly warm welcome and was friendly, making it feel like we were at home. Its also strategically located! Highly recommended, wish and hope to see you again, Eimi-San, keep safe and take care!.

Stayed for 4 nights at Eime's place and could not have been luckier to have ended up here as I was very sick for the first day. Eime was wonderful about it (I probably created more laundry than any other guest) and took really good care of me beyond what you would expect from a hotel manager - offering extra mattresses and pillows, giving me fruit once I could eat again... This place feels more like a homestay than a hotel! Eime also offers many great tourism suggestions and maps to help you get around, in addition to interesting conversations on many topics! For the accommodation itself, our room was much bigger than it appears in the pictures. It is traditional japanese style (futon on tatami mat bed, and husk-filled pillows) - these aren't the most comfortable if you are used to western-style thick mattresses and fluffy pillows, but as noted above Eime does have extras that I'm sure you could use if you need it to sleep. There is no real kitchen to speak of, but you do have access to hot water, a microwave and a fridge for storing or preparing basic food. Eime also offers a 500yen western-style breakfast which is good and very filling (and slightly different each day). The washrooms are good and clean, and while there is only 1 shower I only had to wait for it once. The only downside is that the door we had has a ricepaper "window" section which made it not soundproof for things happening in the hall.

Very close to the famous tourist spots but quite at the same time. Close to bus stop. Room is clean and staff is friendly. Because it is an old Japanese style house, some inconvenience for us foreigners, but it gave us experience to try the Japanese style, which is also a part of our trip.

If you are looking for the perfect location - closest to Kiyomizutera - and want a simple, clean, Japanese style place with an owner that is friendly and makes you feel at home - this is it. The location could not be more perfect. You are smack - 100 yards tops from one of the jewels of the world, in my humble opinion. Your initial cab driver from the station might have a bit of difficulty finding the exact location but this place allows you to wander the narrow alley like streets of of the hills that connect the Higashiyama side Shrines. If you go for change of leaves season - a ritual in the mid to late November - or what ever, this place is a slam dunk. Owner is nice, has a warm smile and an - what ever you need to be comfortable - attitude. Loved the room, clean, traditional Japanese mat and clean.

The location of this place is very good, close to everything you want to see around gion, just need to walk for a while and you are everywhere. If you like to avoid people at any attractions, wake up early for the night and go back to sleep before waking up for real, its incredibly nice and traditional. The owner is niceand helpful and seems to enjoy helping guests out. They also give you fruit which is he very nice gesture. There is an time limit for checkin, but take that into consideration or speak to the owner before hand. We lost tr train and then the bus was late already in kyoto so when we arrived it was past those hours, however, we talked to him and helped us out because we didnt know about the extra charge for late check in which i personally have never experienced. I understand since they live there and people go to bed early in this zone at least (and almost every other smaller city and town in japan) there is no kitchen, although theres eat in the living room.

Our room had air conditioning, which was also a lifesaver. Then, for our final night, we received ice cream and bottled fruit from the host, who was really kind and accommodating. After, when we arrived, they gave us tatoos and local attractions on etiquette.

Although kyoto received us with heavy rain and we were a little disappointed and exhausted after the Shinkansen journey from Tokyo, Kimi, the Roman owner, welcomed us with great energy and good humor even though it was 7 am. And the best part is that her great spirit didn't stop there! She has contagious energy and good will to make you feel at ease and at home. She made us remove our shoes which is quite funny for someone from the west and gave us a show about the Roman. There is a tiny and comfortable shared room where you can have some tea and breakfast the inn does not include breakfast, a toilet that is odd but clean, a large shower and a shared kitchen with a laundry. The rooms are just fantastic. The futons are so comfortable even though you are sleeping in a tatami, you have a small clothing tender which is great in a rainy season, and a small to thefloor table with cushions to seal. One great advantage of the Roman is that it is 4 blocks away from Kyomizudera. Given that many people arrive early at 8.30, being so close allows you to get up early and go walking. I woke up at 6 am and was able to enjoy the sunrise from the temple. Great view, great experience. Oh, there is only cash at the roman! You can also have Japanese

The location is in a premium cultural area, just 5 minutes walk from kiyomizudera. You can enjoy the best tatami experience with hugs from great awesome customer service. Highly recommend to book if you want to stay here.

The location, the price is reasonable, and the owner is very friendly. The place is halfway up the slope from the gojozaka bus stop to the kiyomizu temple, which can be a bit difficult at first. Had ryokan style room with 6 tatami mats, entranceway and kokonoma. Its ok, with shared bathrooms and showers and no dining space, but there is ice maker for guests. Air conditioning in the rooms was incredibly helpful as kyoto was about 100 humidity when i arrived. Very accommodating and friendly owner. She left us some sandwiches one night when we came in late and loaned us an umbrella one day when my daughter left hers in our room. N. B. Exterior photo is not mine.

Perfect. Its reasonably priced, in a great location, and the staff is very friendly. They even gave us bottled juice and fruit as if it were monetary gifts. The rooms are clean and have lovely decor. Although some of the windows had paper, the air conditioning worked without any problems.
