According to local tax regulation, effective from April 1, 2019, guests should pay accommodation tax surcharge directly to the property upon check-in (per person per night):

Accommodation tax of JPY 200 is charged at the property per person per night for room rate less than JPY 19,999.
Accommodation tax of JPY 500 is charged at the property per person per night for room rate of JPY 20,000 and over.
The property does not have a reception. Guests are required to inform the property in advance of their estimated time of arrival.

Guests are required to take off their shoes when entering the property.
