Effective 1 June 2014, Penang City Council will impose a Local Council Tax of MYR 3 per room per night for 4–5 star hotels and MYR 2 for 0–3 star hotels. This tax is payable upon check-in and not included in the room rate. From 1 September 2017, a RM10 tourist tax per room per night applies to all foreign guests. It’s not included in the room rate and is payable at check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian ID or PR card are exempt.
A refundable room security deposit of RM 200 per room per night will be collected upon check-in. Payment can be made by either cash or credit card.
