Fantastic examples of Art Deco throughout the building.

This is a historic hotel. It was nice to walk around the building and appreciate the details. The only downsides were that the car park was 5 min walk away and the piping was loud. I could hear water gushing when people were showering/ using the toilet. However aside from these points, it was a swanky place which was walkable to many parts of town.

As they say, its not what a place looks like, it's how it made you feel! The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble, just a great weekend away in a deco style hotel. We will return

We really enjoyed this place. It was very conveniently located, though alas has no onsite parking, and the staff are kind and helpful and there are plenty of them. The building is elegant, cozy and the bed was totally fine. It was great to have a bath (in the room type I selected). The bar and restaurant were very convenient. I do wish the food was less “standard NZ-European” though. Just so hard-normal. Would have loved some more adventurous food.

Lovely historic hotel, full of period charm, beautifully maintained and very clean. The building is one of the most interesting examples of Art Deco in Napier and is located within easy walking distance of all the attractions you'd want to visit and several great cafes and restaurants. The standout feature for me was the shared courtyard terrace with a covered seating area where you can look out on Marine Parade while you sip your tea. Serene and relaxing! The staff were very professional and attentive. I would 100% stay there again.

The king studio room was relatively small but very well designed, had everything we needed for a long weekend, comfortable and had a couch for sitting, chatting which we preferred rather than a table + chairs If we stayed again would possibly opt for a partial or sea view as our room was close the air-con units we think and had a low hum during the late evening. The lift is ultra slow ( 1 floor hahaha ) but I guess that is the quirks of a beautiful Art Deco building. Quaint swap library for books, and having coffee on the seats on the balcony overlooking the sea are amazing.

We stayed in the Anna Povlova suite - a beautiful high-quality set of rooms overlooking the sea - spacious bedroom with comfortable king-size bed, ensuite shower & loo, twin sinks, separate bathroom, bath, loo & sink, spacious sitting room with fridge and tea/coffee making - and with door out to the veranda and roof-top seating. We were pleasantly surprised how quiet it was. The cost for all this was less than $200/night (off peak), amazingly good value. We enjoyed an evening meal with local wine. Again, beautifully prepared and served, and not expensive. The staff were excellent. We highly recommend this hotel.
