The room was clean but VERY COLD. I booked a superior room because it had a king size bed and heat a sofa and a small table and chairs. When we checked they gave me a very small room with a queen size bed and told me the one I booked wasn’t available because someone else arrived earlier than I did white the room. They gave me a different room with a king size bed with a glass partition and a double bed. It was crowded and COLD. They did gave us the original room I had booked on the second night. Also freezing cold. They gave me a heater. That was way too small for the room and very ineffective. I slept in my clothes. The bathroom ceiling is full a mold, the on-demand hot water system is very poor. The water temperature was lukewarm at best. There are no towel racks and no heat so your towels don’t dry! Bars of soap are extremely tiny as is the packet of shampoo. There is only one towel per person and the bath mat is extremely slippery. The breakfast is small and not many options. You know the room is freezing cold when the staff are wearing heavy jackets. The coffee cups are very cold as well leaving you with a lukewarm warm cup of coffee. There is hot water and tea available in the reception area, but it’s too cold in there to enjoy it. The only water available on the property is for purchase. All of the other hotels we have stayed at Western Peru, and Ecuador provided drinking water in every room, if not there was a water dispenser on every level of the hotel or in the B&B

The solo room is NOT a private bathroom, which was an unwelcome surprise that was not clear on Expedia when I booked. The shared bathroom was gross, it didn't seem to be cleaned much since the bathmat didn't change in the 2 days I was there despite being soaking wet. The bathroom smelled mouldy. The garbage was changed and the room was made, but that's about it. The breakfast was minimal and not that great tbh. You can ask for eggs to be made which is nice, but the continental breakfast was very lacking compared to other rooms similar to their price point. Staff were nice enough, they seem like a nice family. I think they should change the name to "hostel" since it doesn't really meet the definition of a "hotel boutique". Maybe the other rooms with private bathrooms were better, but the Expedia listing needs to be clearer. I don't like it when it's assumed as a solo person, I'm fine with sharing a bathroom.
