I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting South Africa, especially if you are from the UK, I can't wait to come back to this place.

The river cottage lodge is often stoppedover on our way to the ruger or waiting place while having our car serviced in one of Madeline's garages. Yet it deserves to be a destination it owns it's got everything! It is situated at the end of a long dirt road not far from Madeline's center. Once there, you feel like you are in the middle of the ruger. The bungalows are nicely decorated despite being a touch old. A complete renovation is planned for this year. They have a kitchen and fridge, ac, a flat screen, a fully equipped bathroom, an outside bbd and a private carport. Even though primarily a self-catering accommodation, the lodge offers the possibility of a delectable breakfast. A nice small swimming pool overlooking the crocodile river. And the observation deck, which faces the river and is furnished with wooden chairs, is the greatest attraction. The view is spectacular and could keep you busy for hours. The tropical garden is beautiful and the hosts are friendly and welcoming. A place to enjoy while you need a break.

On the advice of a friend who had visited the river cottage lodge a year before, we stayed there. He wasn't right. This location is fantastic. High-end lodges are usually costly in views of national parks. However, given its circumstances, the river cottage lodge was more than adequate. Imagine sitting by the pool, a beer in hand, gazing over the crocodile river, and then a herd of elephants arrives and nibble on the shrubbery 20 meters in front of you for a halfhour. That's this location! I even got an apple from the patio of an elephant. Any other place along the river charges triple this price! Yes, the cottages are basic, but everything you need is a kitchen, bed, bath, and bed. Anyone would want to be anywhere else when paired with the stunning views! What a great stay, especially given the warm greeting by piggie and bella. I appreciate brandon for a great stay! Also, thank you to ad tours that brandon reserved for ruger, they are simply amazing!.

River Cottage is a place where you can relax and feed your soul. We have been going there for a long time and have not been disappointed yet. You can sit in the boma and enjoy the surroundings even see the big 5 if you are lucky. The chalets are clean and have everything you need.

During our trip to Ruger National Park, we stayed here. What a fantastic location. We enjoyed some of the most amazing game viewings in the comfort of the desk chairs on the banks of the Olifants river, facing Ruger National Park. I had close encounters with elephants that you couldn't explain and one of them stole an orange from my hand. Friendly staff, tasty food, and definitely a place I'll return to just recharge my batteries and get away from the rat race. It was unimpressive that we stayed here for four nights. We rescheduled and returned to the River Cottage Lodge.
