The reception area is in what appears to be a shed. The dining area is under a large tent. However, the rooms are very pretty, with beautiful wooden walls and floors and a tile bathroom. They appear new. There are several motel rooms in each cabin. It's all stunning. There wasn't an air conditioner, but the room temperature was great with the window open. The bathroom is an adequate size with counter space around the sink and a shower with shower doors. The room has a to too. The room was a little small, but it was still adequate. The nice thing is that it's outside the town so you feel like you're camping. Additionally, if you strolling the camino, it's the first thing you see, which is nice when you want to sleep. The disadvantage is that it is approved. A 10 minute walk from town, but a beautiful walk along a path with trees and fields on both sides. In reality, if you're staying somewhere else, it's worth walking to this hotel because the route is quite pretty.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on our journey through Santiago. It was the most welcoming hotelhostal we stayed in. The hotel experienced a fire in April 2022 and lost the main building where it had its reception and restaurant. In the meantime, they have set up a tent where they serve breakfast. They have washing machines and clotheslines in the back for those doing the camino. About a kilometer from the city. Wish there were vending machines for tired walkers on the property. However, overall we enjoyed our stay.

It's in a good location. The room was clean but the walls were thin so we can hear people next door, it's obviously due to a fire, so it's why the breakfast is in a tent but the staff is friendly and tries their best in any case. They also have a sister restaurant in town that serves delicious food.

I stayed here for the night while doing the camino. The rooms are beautiful and big. Cool! And it comes with a nice washing machine if you want to change your gear mid-way through! The only drawback was the ok walk in and out of town after a long day. But otherwise 100 de Sant Ago.

The original structure has been completely destroyed. I don't know when it will be, but the new room and dining marque are more than adequate for the job. The cabin-style room was very comfortable, and the marque's barefoot service was excellent. I will stay here again the next time I hike the Camino.

About La Cabaña

The hotel is situated in Palas de Rei, Lugo, right on the Camino de Santiago. It is superbly located close to the town centre and adjacent to a health centre that offers 24-hour emergency services. There are also public swimming pools and a sports centre with football facilities, as well as a summer camp and a hostel for pilgrims. Nearby places of interest include Portomarin (around 25 km), Azua (around 27 km), Sarria (around 45 km) and Lugo (around 50 km way). Santiago de Compostela is around 70 km from the hotel. This charming hotel is built completely of wood and situated in ample grounds, surrounded by gardens, pines and chestnut trees. It is comprised of 2 buildings, one of which houses the 30 guest rooms, and the other which contains the bar, restaurant and reception area. Facilities at this air-conditioned country house include a children's playground and a café. Internet access and a laundry service are available for a fee, and those arriving by car may leave their vehicle in the hotel car park.
