This was our second time in the hotel. We asked for the same room (in advance) and we got it . I wish there was air conditioning in the rooms. I love the little tea room with daily cake! It makes me feel like on a skiing holiday in a chalet

I was really pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The staff were excellent, especially the head of housekeeping. All her staff were professional and polite and really made me feel comfortable. The room was clean and well presented. The shampoos and showers gels were great quality. The room has no AC but did come with a fan and windows that open. The restaurant , again the staff were lovely and whilst initially the prices seemed a little high the food quality was bang on. I had the chicken Caesar salad and had two massive strips of bacon and the most perfectly cooked chicken breast I think I have ever had. Really well situated for the Peak District never having to travel more than 45 mins even for the furthest points of interest. My only two little niggles were the pillows were very lumpy and not much filling otherwise. Also I was on the first floor and the windows are full length out on to the car park area so everyone could see me when near the bed . Some nets or even some frosty on the lower section would be good. Otherwise great value for money.

Lovely stay. The hotel is spotless. I couldn’t fault the stay, amenities or the staff. They were above and beyond on many occasions. People have said about a breakfast issue previously but I found it to be absolutely fine and that’s coming from staying on a bank holiday weekend. I would definitely go back!

Short but sweet stay - room was excellent , dog loved it. Evening meal was a pleasant surprise - really well cooked and not ping food - Paella was excellent.

Great location with amazing walks. Good price. Restaurant was excellent, not too expensive. For a budget priced hotel, this was superb. Very comfortable room with all the essentials supplied. Highly recommend

Used as a base for a couple of days hiking, really impressed by the hotel - the facilities were excellent. Large room well equipped room with a coffee machine, bike hire, complimentary sweet treats and coffee in the afternoon (which were delicious). Already booking our next stay!

Great hotel for a great price. Dog friendly but if you don't have dogs, don't worry, there is absolutely no sign dogs have ever been in the rooms, no lingering dog smells etc. I've stayed here twice and on the second stay was in a room facing the road. I'm a light sleeper but wasn't woken by the traffic at all. There's no Aircon in the rooms but you are provided with a fan so be aware if you run hot. Facilities are brilliant and the free cake each afternoon is a nice added extra. Staff are all lovely and happy to help with anything. Breakfast is very nice but be aware that there's no full English but you do get eggs, beans and bacon. Location is good and just a short drive from Derwent dam and Castleton. Would highly recommend this place and will be visiting again myself.
