Fantastic stay, the hotel has been having work done to it but that made no difference at all to my stay. Cleaning staff deserve credit for the amazing job they are doing it is NOT easy at all! Very very friendly. Management were very attentive and had a good chat and a laugh which I find very important. Breakfast was absolutely amazing would have liked fruit and yoghurt option with few pastries but what you get for breakfast is absolutely amazing & value for money. Parking is easy enough, also plenty of shops in the town. Only downside for myself and partner is there are loads of stairs, we are both asthmatic, COPD and my partner has had stents in recently an suffers arthritis & angina, I know probably can't put lifts in as it's an old building but maybe offer second floor for people with medical issues? Over all dispite that it was absolutely amazing and I definitely recommend staying there

Stayed for couple of nights in rm 19 which was modernised and had a Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom which made my day. Bed was comfy, room was clean, large tv for whoever is interested in this, kettle, plenty coffee and tea. Roo. Was quiet, location just across from the ferry, the building itself was stunning. Electric heaters in the room and you can adjust the temperature and a fan for cooling down. I haven't used the bar or restaurant. I have asked if they served meals and been told 'is one of those things', I like clear answers, so I decided to eat out. I have travelled there for work, beautiful scenery, but Dunoon in itself it's not a place I would return. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, can't fault a single thing, the price was convenient for what they provided. Took one star of as 'it's one of those things' answer. They could clearly be more organised on the meals side.

I had a lovely stay although not a front facing room unfortunately but a peaceful wooded view. Enthusiastic staff eager to renovate and get the hotel back up to scratch but a quirky and charming place, full of authenticity and character. Definitely not a 5* luxury hotel but could not fault the facilities, comfort, and great value for money. Ample parking, green spaces with lovely view, beautiful bed linen & supersoft towels and great shower!

Had a very pleasant overnight stay. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water and good shower pressure. This is an old building so it can't be compared with a modern structure, but it has plenty of charm. Very helpful staff. Didn't have breakfast, so can't comment. Would definitely stay again.

We loved our stay. We felt very welcome and the staff were fantastic! Such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We even met the cleaner on the stairs who stopped to ask if we needed anything wven though she was already really busy. We ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel both days and the food was delicious and very well cooked. We plan to return in the summer. This was our 2nd time in Dunoon but first at the marine hotel, we will definitely stay here next time. Perfect location for the ferry as its literally on the doorstep. Ample parking.

I stayed in Gigha, it was an excellent room with a wooden four poster bed and large window, I could watch the car ferry loading and taking off.

A standout stay at a characterful hotel in a great location. The Royal Marine Hotel perfectly balances traditional charm with tasteful modern touches, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout. What truly sets this place apart is the hospitality. Richard, the owner, leads a first-class team who clearly take pride in what they do. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was genuine and personable, and that level of care remained consistent right through to our departure. The on-site bar is both cosy and well-stocked, and the food deserves special mention. The menu focuses on high-quality, home-cooked dishes done exceptionally well. The handmade burger was a highlight—easily one of the best I’ve had—and it convinced us to stay for breakfast the following morning, which was equally impressive. In terms of value, service, and overall experience, The Royal Marine Hotel delivers on every level. It’s the kind of place you look forward to returning to—and we certainly will be. Highly recommended.

Such a great local experience. The staff was super helpful and friendly. Loved it! The building needs some updates (loved the charm and wouldn't change the style or architecture but just update the paint and flooring). Overall, so great!
