Stayed over for one night passing through on a cycling trip. The host was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful storing and charging our bikes. Only open for B&B but fortunately the local tearoom opens on weekend evenings for meals. Well stocked community shop next door and community pub at the end of the street. Great village and area.

Just returned from four nights at the Cross Keys ...... Susan the owner and staff are more than welcoming ...... New Galloway is tranquility it’s self !!!!! And a hidden gem for those looking to escape for a while .... a piece of Scottish charm and well worth a visit ..... but don’t tell too many people 😁

Situated in a beautiful town. Very quiet at night. Friendly staff.

Really friendly hotel with lots of quirks. The village is a sleepy hollow and the hotel is a great spot. Some may say it is a little dated, but I’d say if you want new, clean lines, city clone the you could stay in a Holiday in served by disinterested staff with no reason to make your stay special. Come to a place like the Cross Keys and you get the real thing, warts and all. Not that there are any, just some tiny midgy bites. Our lives would be a lot poorer without places like this.

Well looked after in friendly, comfortable establishment. Local area has much of interest, including forest walks, wildlife, gardens and scenery.

Well situated for exploring the Galloway Forest and surrounding area. Comfortable rooms and a good breakfast to start the day.

This hotel has 55 stars. There is a fantastic park right across the street from the hotel. Suan the owner is a friendly, great host, and also a good chef. Our dog Shiva had a wonderful time and loves playing with his dog.

We would definitely return. A unique discovery on our hike to the border region. Owner susan, the staff, and rescue resident pub dog Claudia, the picture is above, made us feel quite welcome. The cozy pub with fireplace was also enjoyed by our dog! The food was delicious. All food allergies were taken into account.

I had a great time while here. The hotel location is in the new hallway area and I luckily found a temporary accommodation there. The place was great. They served a very nice breakfast in the room. The owner of this hotel was so kind and attentive. They also offer very nice cleanliness and comfort in the room.

If you wanted to get away from it all, youd come here. Except that the hotel has wifi, so you're not that isolated. Starting with the village. We were fortunate with good weather, it could easily have been one of those sleepy French villages with few people around. There is no boulangerie, but there is a community shop selling local produce. The hotel is easily accessible on the main street, and if you're lucky you can park in front, but there is a parking lot close by. Now if you want a holiday inn that's clone, this isn't it. Some might say old fashioned, others would say niche or unconventional whatever it is genuine, clean, and reasonably priced. What more can you ask for a really good night's sleep and a wonderful breakfast? A welcoming, intimate bar? You got it. The landlady is friendly and has created the space her own by lovingly caring for rescue dogs, both of whom are real characters. If you don't like dogs, maybe this isn't for you, but otherwise the cross keys are not trying to be anything it's not. 35 minutes from dummies 45 minutes from the air right next to the dark skies park and loch ken. I give this place high marks because it's honest, nononsense and it should be supported by small independent hotels

The hotel itself is lovely. Sadly the dining room and bar are closed but the hotel side is open for business! Clean rooms, comfy bed and delightful host. Breakfast was cooked fresh to order and was perfectly done. Really lovely place to stay to take in the surrounding villages and towns. Peaceful village with cafes

Solo traveller on a motorcycle trip, small country inn, owner and staff were friendly, great value and whilst rustic and a little dated, the room was spotless, food was home cooked good and plentiful and a great wee bar - good food, clean room, decent bed and a few beers for very little money.

A former coaching house with very friendly owner, Susan. Perfectly adequate for a short stay. We know the area well and did know in advance that it’s not “Castle Douglas”. Others travellers should be aware!

The food was fabulous both breakfast and dinner. Both ladies were pleasant and beyond helpful. Having paid extra for a large room, we were disappointed with our room which could not by any stretch of the imagination be large.

Bad experience. No Sunday food, no Sunday bar. No where in village to get these items. Central heating poor.
