The value is great. This is the perfect place to base yourself when visiting the hills. I last stayed here two years ago and am very happy to say that the business is now under new ownership. The new owner, Wayne and Add, are much friendlier and helpful than the previous owners. Its a lovely little hotel in a wonderful location. Waynes homemade food is delicious and abundant, and the bar has a good selection of beers and spirits. My party consisted of 10 friends riding motorcycles here to explore the nc 500 route and other highland roads. Wayne is a fellow motorcyclist and allowed us to park our bikes overnight in his outbuildings. Highly suggested.

We really enjoy the vacation here! I'd like to thank Kevin and Karen and Steven for the good stay. The hostel is a team of downtoearth people with hearty cuisine and dangerous characters. And then there is the nice, quiet room with a comfy place. After that, the rules were strictly defined and followed at the beginning of your visit. Subsequently, they served breakfast and dinner and weren't hungry for lunch.

This is a great hotel for people who have a purpose for staying. There are some reviews from visitors that may have expected more from a remote highland fishing hotel. We stayed for 4 nights and went trout fishing for 3 days. Our room was spotless. We had the fishing shed to ourselves and the freezer for our trout. The drying space heater didn't seem to work, but regardless our clothes were dry each morning. The fishing was good, thanks to tips from kevin. Kevin is an avid angler given the strain of having to work with corona virus restrictions, both kevin and karen were great hosts. The bar was well equipped and reasonably priced. The bar meals were delicious and substantial. Breakfasts were so good and substantial that we missed out on the packed lunches provided. A lot of unexpected humour and anecdotes from kevin. Brilliant. Traditional highland fishing hotels are now scarce, and with my 40 years experience, Id give this place 4 stars. If you are a true outdoorsperson looking for a base, overscaig is for you. If you are looking for something else, do some research. Hope to go back there next year.

What a place! The owner is so funny. His bark is better than his bite. The food was great cooked by the mythical Karen. The whisky cheesecake is the best I've ever tasted. The breakfast in the breakfast room was better than average. Overall a great find. Book room 3 if you can it's worth that little extra.
