We had previously stayed at the Throckmorton. It's in a lovely location, with a very pleasant decking area and al fresco dining area to the rear with an open view across fields. The interior is a pleasant place to spend time as well. The food is excellent it's not cheap, but it's not expensive either, but the quality means it's good value. The accommodations are fine and very clean. The staff is really outstanding. They are clearly a tight team, and many have been there for several years, which is not that common in hospitality. There is a strong impression that the management really cares about the staff, and the staff holds the management in high regard. Houghton Court is within walking distance and is itself exceptional, and the town of ancestor has its own charm. Taken together, all of the above makes throckmorton one of those rare places that is more than the sum of it's parts. We will undoubtedly go back.

The food is nice, the owner of this place is also very helpful and friendly. The place is in an amazing location, and the view from the deck is also very beautiful.

Wonderful stay. Excellent service from all employees and a friendly welcome. Although the room was small, it had a stunning outlook of the country. We ate there all three evenings, and the food was excellent, but we would have liked a more diverse menu. We love fish and are used to eating well from Cleethorpes, so the fish was excellent every Friday at 10 am. In the early evening, when the sun set over the countryside, I had a drink on the patio. I definitely would return.

I had a wonderful experience at the Throckmorton with my friend. My friend stayed in room 4, so if lack of sleep is an issue, I would advise you to stay away from it. The bed was quite comfy, the two rooms were immaculate, and all the staff was extremely kind and pleasant. Excellent menu with beautifully prepared breakfast items. The only drawback for me was the road noise. I never sleep well at night because I am very light sleeper, but I appreciate that Throckmorton can do nothing about it. She also stayed in room 7, which she described as being quite peaceful. If I were in the area, I would most definitely return.

It was nice to find such a good restaurant nearby. They have a restaurant with an official menu, but they do not provide any restaurant service, so we didn't need to wait long for this menu.
