I loved this hotel from the cleanliness of the room with the nice handcrafted wood furniture and the beautiful private deck overlooking the river and hills. The place is located in the city but very quiet as the rooms are on the riverside.

We spent a night here while visiting the North Cascade area. The hotel was tidy, spotless, tranquil, and convenient, and it had wonderful river views. The downtown stores and restaurants were accessible on foot. The fact that previous visitors had been smoking in the nonsmoking room, which was the only thing preventing us from receiving a star rating, was the only thing that prevented us from receiving one. The staff offered an air purifier to help with the smoky stench, but in all honesty, this should have been noted and corrected before our arrival. It is regrettable that guests do not adhere to hotel regulations, but the hotel management should finally make sure the rooms are available to subsequent visitors. Despite this one issue, which we consider to be an unfortunate anomaly, we would return.

I often stay at the hotel Rio Viaje when visiting Winthrop or the Methow Valley. All of the rooms feature large windows and a small private deck overlooking the confluence of the Methow and Cheech rivers. The view is breathtaking and enchanting. I stayed there for a few days this week, and the rushing water makes for a calm sound to sleep. Canada geese were swimming nearby, and I saw a bald eagle fly by. Although many Winthrop restaurants and stores are closed right now, there are good restaurants within walking distance, but the Old Schoolhouse restaurant with excellent bar food and burgers was open the night I was there. It is also very clean, and everything in my room worked, from lights to showers, etc. The front desk lady was kind and helpful. Due to the shoulder season, the staff hours have been reduced right now, and there was no housekeeping service, so you had to let them know if you needed anything, but there were lots of towels and toilet paper in the room. Especially for the incredible river views, it is highly recommended.

We had a great stay at the Rio Vista hotel for 2 nights. The river view and the soothing river sound were a major plus. The hotel is in a great city area, and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Will be back if we are close enough.

However the hotel doesn't tell you that the front door of the room was left on the highway. So yes there is a lovely river outside the back, but in the morning the road noise starts to ring. The curtains also leave a space for light to come in.
