The room and housekeeping was great. The property and location was spectacular with the Strasburg railroad steam engine running right by the property several times a day. The onsite restaurant was good, but was always out of something on the menu (waffles, potatoes). The room was quite small, but that was to be expected for a renovated caboose. The only real negative was the ice machine which I found to be either out of ice or dirty or both.

Our Caboose was SO CUTE! It was clean and comfortable. The grounds of the hotel were stunning. There was a mini farm, small arcade, and the Casey Jones Restaurant was just amazing. The store in the restaurant and office were so fun to browse too! We were so impressed with the level of service offered. The front desk called to ensure our Caboose was the way we expected and to remind us they were available if we had any questions. While we didn’t ask for housekeeping, we did want towels for the second day and we were able to get them immediately! We wished we had gotten the opportunity to visit the Toy Museum, but we thoroughly enjoyed riding on the train, which is literally within walking distance (or a very short drive). I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. We stayed at two locations during our trip to PA and the Red Caboose Hotel was by far the best location! Thank you for a memorable trip!

The Red Caboose Motel is unlike any other lodging experience you’ll ever have. The motel offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the modern world by creating a nostalgic experience in the middle of Amish Country. The daily steam train excursions through the property are a wonderful addition to the experience and the inside dining at Casey Jones’ means leaving the area isn’t necessary. Thanks for another great stay!

This is a fun one or two night stopover for families. Cabooses that sleep 6 are tight but fine for 1-2 nights. Not really a place for multiple night stay in my opinion. Definitely visit the National Toy Train museum next door and make the trip train themed.

The Red Caboose is great! It has a wonderful charm that is perfect for any railfan! The room was spotlessly clean and everyone was very welcoming. You couldn’t ask for a better place to watch trains go by. The restaurant is good and the train car that it is in is really beautiful. There’s also a petting zoo area on site that has some very sweet (if greedy!) goats and a very affectionate miniature horse. They offer Amish buggy rides departing from the parking lot if you’re interested; although a quick walk down the street in the evening will see you walking along fields with Amish men and women working hard. It’s also very close to both the Strasburg Railroad (which runs right by the property’s fence!) and the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum. Definitely a great place to visit!

My granddaughter, grandson and I loved the fact that our accommodations were in a train caboose. The train car was actually on railroad tracks!! The interior was very clean and well maintained. The grounds were clean. The staff were very friendly. We went on an Amish buggy tour which was very enjoyable. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at Casey Jones which is on the grounds. The food was delicious. I loved the half rack of ribs. Their sauce was fantastic!!We parked right in front of our caboose. I plan to return in the near future.

Been coming to this place since I was a kid, it’s definitely not modern but it’s clean and has an awesome aura. The towels though are hard as a rock and pillow cases not comfortable: besides from that always a pleasure

This motel was great! The car is well maintained. It is not huge, but that was expected seeing as it is a train car. The property is beautiful. The motel is between two fields with incredible sunrises and sunsets. The old-fashioned locomotive runs during the day, which is amazing to see for the kids. It does not run at night so it is not waking you up. The property offers buggy rides to purchase. They have little goats, alpacas and a miniature horse that you can feed and are incredibly friendly. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They called to make sure I didn’t need anything when I first checked in before the office closed. They are the same staff that run the restaurant. The restaurant is great and the prices are reasonable. I will definitely be staying here again. The next time I am in the area.

The room we stayed in had separate sleeping rooms, which was great, we had a 16 year old with us. She had privacy that is not available in most hotels that we normally stay in.

There is a petting zoo right on the property which is free. You only need to use change to get food out the feeder to feed the animals. You can see and hear the vintage steam engine train everyday about 3x a day pass in front of the hotel. Just a really fun, relaxing, and enjoyable time!

We came up for the night just to make sure everything is set for our wedding here this summer. Everyone is great, but Christine is wonderful. Our family loves this place.
