Front desk man was nice. Breakfast was pretty good, had scrambled eggs and sausage gravy with biscuits alongside with the usual toast, bagels and fruits. Pool looked a little rough, but had no plans to use it anyhow.

For the price we paid ($37/night) I can’t say enough about the value. The staff were all friendly and great and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good for a free hotel breakfast (the typical cereal/yogurt/waffle machine/toast/juice/coffee plus scrambled eggs and biscuits and sausage gravy). The man who checked us in and seemed to be the main staff person was very friendly and competent. I would stay here again anytime I’m in Grinnell. The pool whitecoat could use some help (there are patches in it which look unsightly) but that doesn’t make a pool unsafe (I’m a certified pool operator so I know) but if the pool is important to you that might be one reason to stay elsewhere.

The hotel had some visible signs of wear and tear but it was otherwise well-maintained, clean, and very quiet.

Perfect for our weekend. Clean, spacious, ac worked great. It was a busy weekend so shower water temp cold on 2nd day only. Everyone getting ready at same time. I understand. Good value for what you get.

The hallways smelled musty. The towel rack in the bathroom was loose and hanging at an angle.

The pictures are not accurate at all. The pool is in poor shape and the lining is coming off with huge patches at the bottom, my kids refused to swim. The whole place smelled weird and was super muggy inside. The carpet was really gross. The bathrooms and beds were very clean though. Just not accurate for the pictures. I wasn't expecting 5 star with the price but the conditions were well below the standard presented online.

Staff sent me to a room that already had people on it. Then. The room was not clean and when I went to front desk to tell them it took a long time for them to find me a new room that was dirty.

Do not stay at this hotel. Mold on bathroom ceilings and stains on mattress which seemed to be blood. Bring something to wedge your door shut while your sleeping.

Property needs some major upkeep- owner was amazing for extension on us leaving a little later- biggest complaint is when we got into our room the smell of dog pee hit me so hard I was physically nauseous. We had to open the window to even be able to sleep- had we not have gotten into town so late we wouldn’t have stayed. Air fresheners were used to try and cover up the smell, but all it did was make it smell like lavender and dog pee. If you want to have a hotel where animals are allowed that is fine, but you need to make sure and deep clean a lot better. If I could ask for a refund, I would.
