Bogor Station is one of the large class type stations located in Cibogor, Central Bogor. Bogor Station is included in the Jakarta Operation Area I. Historically, Bogor Station was built in 1881 to be the terminus station or final stop station for the Jabodetabek KRL trip.
Bogor Station has two buildings side by side, namely one building as the station entrance area, lobby, administration, counter, prayer room and other facilities. Bogor Station is a KRL (Commuter Line) station that serves Red Line trips (to Jakarta Kota Station). Apart from serving KRL routes, Bogor Station also serves trips to Sukabumi by Pangrango Train.
History of Bogor Station
Bogor Station is located in the heart of Bogor City, West Java, and is one of the oldest and busiest train stations in Indonesia. Bogor Station was built in 1881 so it is currently 142 years old. This station has been a silent witness to the long history of the city of Bogor.
Bogor Station was built by the Dutch through the Staats Spoorwegen (SS) railway company. Previously, Bogor Station was only the final stop for the Batavia railway line (as Jakarta was called during the Dutch occupation) to Buitenzorg (as Bogor was called during the Dutch occupation). This small terminal or station has been operating since 1872 under the management of the Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij (NIS) for approximately 40 years.
Bogor Station was passed by KRL for the first time in 1930, with the KRL route Batavia (Jakarta Kota) - Buitenzorg (Bogor), as quoted from the KAI Commuter page. Currently, Bogor Station has been designated as a cultural heritage building based on the Decree of the Minister of Culture and Tourism No: PM. 26/PW.007/MKP/2007 dated March 26 2007.
