Here’s a balanced Expedia-style review that keeps the good stuff strong but honestly mentions the musty smell and bed comfort: Great Reykjavík location with lots of space We really enjoyed our stay at Rey Apartments. The location was excellent and within easy walking distance of Hallgrímskirkja Church, Rainbow Street, shops, restaurants, and a very cute secondhand shop right across the street. Communication with the manager was great. They let us drop our bags early, helped with check-in, and changed the gate codes for us, which we really appreciated. We stayed in room 1107, and it was huge. It was also nice that there were no stairs to get into the room. The kitchenette was lovely and made it easy to prepare some food during our stay. The blackout curtains were excellent, which was helpful in Reykjavík’s long daylight hours. One helpful tip: there are two free parking spots across from the entrance gate, slightly down to the left near the blue building. If they are open, ask the owner about using them because parking nearby can be expensive. The only downsides were that the room had a musty/mildew smell when we first arrived, though it improved during our stay. The king bed was not very comfortable, and one of the sofas worked for our daughter to sleep on but was pretty hard. The location is right in the city, close to everything: bars, restaurants, shopping, and transportation. The place is very clean, spacious, and safe. I had a studio apartment and was able to shop and make my own breakfast, which was fantastic because my tours started very early in the morning. The only downside is that you can hear everything: doors closing, suitcases being dragged along because there's no elevator, so you have to carry luggage up the stairs. The walls and floors are paper-thin; there's zero sound insulation. My second-floor room was in an interior courtyard, so I didn't hear any outside noise. They were very responsive to all my questions. If you don't mind the noise inside the building and want a convenient and reasonably priced place, this is the stay for you.

Beautiful room. We stayed in a 1 bedroom that sleeps 4 with 2 sofa beds. Highly recommend this clean place with great location to near by restaurants and shops. Check in and out is very simple and easy.

Most economical apartment we stayed in during our visit to Iceland, but it felt like a luxury apartment. It had everything thing we needed for a comfortable stay. A bonus was the fast wi-fi which allowed my granddaughter to complete her online classes. Wonderful bakery next door!

GREAT LOCATION! Affordable! This is my 4th visit to Iceland and out of all my stays in Reykjavik, I liked this location the best. Staff friendly and sociable. Can’t wait to come back! The only negative was the shower curtain was gross at the bottom of it.

We had a great stay at Rey Apartments in Reyjavik. Our room was fantastic and we loved having a kitchenette and lounge to use in the mornings and evening. The location was fantastic and easily walkable to the main areas of town. The apartment was clean and check in was super easy. We'd definitely stay with you again!

We needed a one night stay for 5 before heading home the next day. This apartment did the trick. The only thing I would suggest is better communication at check-in. I thought it would be a key code vs having to return to the hotel to get the key… also the fob vs a key code is a bit tough with several people. One person needed to have the fob with them to let anyone in… a code would have allowed more freedom to enter.
