My three friends and i stayed here together, and it was an amazing experience! It was my favorite place to stay during my trip to japan because it provided everything ive needed. The hotel is quiet and spotless while being close to so many restaurants and shops that are easily accessible on foot. Very helpful and kind staff. I particularly liked the traditional aspect of this hotel!.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Sangen. The location is 100/10. Kiyomizudera is less than a 10minute walk away. Ninenzaka and sannenzawa are steps away, making it the best place to visit. Its relatively quiet because its not on main street. There are fantastic views of the papplication from the rooftop. If you find it free, there is likewise if it is located on the roof. Very clean rooms were provided. Simple yet pleasant amenities. Comfortable futons were available. Excellent water pressure in the shower! It was quite convenient that the toilets had been shared because they were directly outside the rooms. And they kept them clean every time. Staff is welcoming and kind. Although they didnt speak much english, they made an effort to assist us as much as they could. Note that 630 is the closest location for everything else in this area. So, youll need to go to gion or the shopping areas unless you want to shop after 660.

What a fantastic traditional ryokan in kyoto. We spent two nights there, and it was the highlight of our trip, just boarding cabs from the station. Ideal location for seeing the sights of kopengo, but off the main street, giving the impression of tranquility and calm. The room has modern amenities, as well as extremely helpful and friendly staff (seriously, the guys there are legends). The rooftop view was breathtaking, along with the excellent breakfast and robes. Everyone should visit sangen, in my opinion!.

The location is in a quiet area of kyoto. At night you can walk the beautiful streets almost to yourself. There are also cute little restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The ryokan itself was quaint with such lovely people working there, especially the owner who was so kind. If you stay make sure you try breakfast one morning, its really worth trying for the experience alone. Also take advantage of the japanese bath on the rooftop overlooking kohono, i really like it.

The location is ideal for a traditional japanese experience in opulent surroundings. The place is spotless and has countless characters and histories. There was an amazing view of the mountains and the Kyoto mountains from the rooftop, and there was excellent service! You are made to feel unique and important by the staff. Its off blustery street, yet its close enough to great eateries and retail establishments on foot. I will most certainly return on my next visit to kyoto!.

We stayed here and had an amazing experience! The hosts were very helpful, made us feel at home and provided everything to give us a unique experience. From the accommodation to the traditional breakfast and onsen, everything was amazing! They even offered to take polaroid pictures of us to use as souvenirs. The view from the terrace is very beautiful and it is in tastier conditions.

I highly recommend staying here. There are many shops, restaurants, shrines and temples to visit for sightseeing. I stayed in the suite with some friends. It was very beautiful and fun to stay in a traditional room. The location is great.

This place truly deserves an 11 out of 10. I had the best experience staying at any hotel in japan, and shir and his team provided the most amazing service. Sangen is the ideal location to experience your first time staying in the ryokan!.

This place is ideal for a relaxing stay and boasts an incredible location in kyoto. Situated right in the heart of kitoshwan, you are conveniently located near shopping and one of the main temples. Sharing sanitary facilities with other guests was not advisable, and we rarely encountered each other. If you have tasty luggage, i do recommend booking cabs here. As of this writing, it was approximately $13-15 usd, which is reasonable considering two people and their luggage. The staff members are also outstanding! Extremely accommodating and kind.

The staff is very attentive and gives lots of good recommendations. The breakfast is top notch. Amazing rooftop view. Traditional tatami rooms with beautiful wooden details. Very comfortable beds i was pleasantly surprised. Little detail in the room adds character. A traditional garden and rooftop bath. Lots of character Quaint and a cozy street buried right next to traditional shops. I love it here! This is my favorite ryokan in kyoto. Thank you! I will definitely stay again.

This place is a 5 out of 5. The location is in secluded alley, yet close to popular tourist attractions. The staff gave us fruit and snacks every night. A cozy room in this quiet alleyed.

Kyo no yado Sangen was the first place i found after doing some research about many accommodations in kyo. I chose the location primarily because it was close to the main attractions and also because of the view. The hokanji temple is only a fiveminute walk away from the hotel, and the fourth floor offers an amazing view of it, which ive thought was fantastic! I also wanted to stay somewhere more traditional in japan, so this fit perfectly. My stay was wonderful, with easy access to both the temple, plus the staff was also great! They were very friendly and accommodating! When we arrived, they even gave us tea and some snacks, as well as if we had stowed pens as parting gift. They really paid attention to detail and truly cared about their visitors, in my opinion! This was my favorite stay in all of japoni, thanks to its excellent staff and convenient location for psp!.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make you feel at home. The hotel is located on a street behind popular tourist walks so it is very quiet and private. Location is within walking distance to many must see places and even better there is sat on the rooftop to watch the city with booze. Very affordable especially for this area!.

The rooms were fantastic. But the best part is that they have a great manager, mr. Powerful! He cooks at 12 am we were hungry after our latenight tour. Also, his private bathroom was prepared for us with tastier terrace views.

I will return. Excellent location, lovely hotel, and excellent service. The room, amenities, or aesthetics are all exquisite, just a short distance from the sannenzaka path. Really charming and lovely place. We stayed in tatami mats that were made of japan. Our hosts welcomed us with hot green tea and matcha chocolates. On the rooftop, we had the chance to bathe in an exquisitely large copper tub. Strongly advised.
