In April, we had a fantastic trip here. The property is a former hunting lodge in a remote setting that is also close to the beach and the town. It is a very wonderful breakfast in the main house, which has a real foreign charm, gives off the impression of going back in time to the country gentleman's days. Breakfast includes coffee, juice, jam, eggs, toast, and toast. Fresh fruit would be a nice addition. Large suites that fit a family or a couple. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. Excellent hospitality from the keeper, jose, who is a former diplomat who speaks perfect English. He seems to enjoy greeting and talking with visitors. As we departed, he even gave us a lift to the train station. The personnel was also really friendly, especially mean, who went above and beyond to assist us with a few things. On the main square, there are several excellent portuguese-style coffee shops. There are numerous walking trails in the area. A brief ferry ride across the river will take you on a day excursion to Spain. We weren't able to catch the ferry during the offseason and, unfortunately, the ferry service seemed to be a little erratic in the offseason because it tended to stop early in the day. If we get the chance, we would without a doubt return to Casa de Ester.

The location was very strategic. The staff at the big house were very nice. The room was very comfortable and the style was nice.

I was miserable when staying in the studio for 5 days. We had high expectations for comfort and charm from the property website, but we were unable to locate either. There were only two beds in the studio, each of which had extremely worn mattresses and was unpleasant and stinky. We had only two tables and an old table with a broken leg for supper. As the outdoor table was filthy and full of spider webs, forget about it. The studio was just as worn out as anything else. The garden's vegetation and dirt have now invaded the outdoors, making it difficult to move around and even more difficult to carry luggage. The studio's access was made by a narrow footpath, making it harder to walk, making it harder to carry objects. Even though the staff provided what we requested, they didn't appear happy to get guests and we didn't feel at home inside the main house. Overall, it has the potential to be a small, charming inn near the beach, but it requires considerable attention and renovations, in addition to more welcoming hosts.

We would happily return to it and suggest it. In midpril, while it was still cool, we remained. When we arrived, the lush, decades if not centuries-old garden was anchored by magnificent eucalyptus trees that scented the space. The apartment where we remained was private, isolated, and surrounded by the garden's natural beauty. We liked the rooftop terrace for afternoon beverages and quiet times the fireplace on a cold, rainy afternoon, and the comfort of graciousness and good disposition of the living spaces, which was a much-needed change after a couple of weeks in smaller rooms. The location is ideal, it is 10 minutes' walk to the nearest whitesand beach and 30 minutes' walk to the town center of Camino. We spent six relaxing, happy, and carefree days at casa Ester.

We stayed in a roomy apartment with a balcony that overlooked the very usable pool. My daughter loved the gardens, the romantic coy pond, our bike tours, even a child seat was provided through the pine forest connecting river and sea beaches, and particularly Filomeina. The wonderful staff and filomeina were great. We love the unique atmosphere, the beautiful rooms and surroundings with art and tasteful antiques that reflect the life and spirit of jose, or my. Ambassador, as he is respectfully called by his people. This place may not have the luxury of a fiesta hotel and doesn't have that. However, it oozes genuine style. For us, it was the ideal refuge to unwind and forget our everyday lives.
